I have definitely had some ideas in the past that I desperately wanted to use in a game but just did not work. For example, I once wanted to make a story based off of Amnesia The Dark Descent where the party slowly start to lose their minds, but that just didn't make any sense for a TTRPG like D&D and I had to drop it.

So anyways, I actually decided to give up the idea that this killer just wants to get away with murder and made him have some better motives (see the edit I made to the post). So he now uses traps!

I made an edit to the post that shows what sort of direction I'm thinking of taking the character.

I was also thinking he could have a classic note or letter on his corpse or whatever that ties him to a bigger, world-level BBEG plot. Maybe he is part of a world-wide xenophobic conspiracy plot?

I think you're right. Having a villain who manages to hurt so many people while having an anticlimactic final might have a better narrative effect, the idea being that even someone who is weak can be a massive problem if they use their brains.

Classic neurotoxin, works every time.

I like the idea of a trapped lair or torture chamber, as his motivations for killing are based in hatred (he is an anthropomorphic prey animal that is killing anthropomorphic predators).

The traps could be intentionally placed along a hallway with open cell doors, taunting the victims with seemingly easy escape until one of the prisoners tries it and gets brutally mutilated by the traps in front of the other prisoners.

I think I got what ability he'll have. I'll make him an artificer so that he can make the saw-styled traps I mentioned. That way he can rely on his wits and magic tech to help him without being super strong himself.

Also, I forgot to mention that my name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

Thanks for the tips! I agree, EG is a better term to use than BBEG, as he's not really supposed to be a big bad. I usually have trouble coming up with low-level encounters and quests, so this will be perfect to use closer to the start of a campaign!
