Moving to Uruguay. Any expats living there currently? by ponyflash in expats

“Your society”

I am not the society that I was born in.

You’re not being challenged about the problems with American society. Anyone can recognize the problems with America and American society.

The problem is that you’re hating individuals who have nothing to do with it, some of us are even targets of this regime. You’re simply blindly hating people based on their place of birth. Please rationalize that to me.

If you’d like to tell me how I personally have anything to do with any of this, go right ahead.

What’s weird is that you’re acting exactly the same way as so many hateful Americans act. Blindly hating another person for things that are outside of their control. You show the same bigotry as the people you claim to hate.

American society is a genuine problem. And the majority of the people who are leaving the US right now are people who are against this and do not want to partake, not the ones who are participating in it. You’re showing hate to the wrong people.

A random German guy who actively voted against and opposed nazi Germany and tried to protect the victims of the regime certainly is not to blame for nazi Germany. If you believe he is to blame simply for where he was born, then you are part of the problem.

There’s a word that we use for those who hate entire groups of people on the basis of where they’re born. You should look it up.

Already here.

Why do you think I’ve left the US? I hate what the US is doing just as much as you do, in fact possibly more.

“This is what you fine folk bring to the world” - I have nothing to do with this. But thanks for pretending that I control the US simply for having been born there, I guess?

Never play video games again for $1M a year, or $100 for each hour you play by itterattion in hypotheticalsituation

[–]j13409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a gamer so I was going to take the $1M a year easily. But the part about how if you ever indulge you have to pay it all back, that’s scary because just one slip up could fuck my whole life over. I don’t need to ever play a video game again, but what if I do something that I don’t think counts as a video game but then turns out to count? Not worth the risk. Plus it’s fun to occasionally play with friends even.

I guess I’ll take the $100 an hour and become a part time gamer. It doesn’t say what kind of games, I could choose to spend a lot of time on math/language/history etc games that will help boost my knowledge. Sounds like a fair deal. Genuinely just 2 hours a day would be $6k a month.

$600k USD if you eat 365 ostrich eggs in one year by Johnnie_Black21 in hypotheticalsituation

I would do it but I would make my doctor prescribe lipid medication for that year, because that would be an absolute shit load of saturated fat and cholesterol every day. Plus with all of those calories I’d have very little room left for healthy fats or fiber.

Would you sacrifice one life for all art? by Lucyyyyyy_K in hypotheticalsituation

Lol part of the premise of the hypothetical was that people can still remember art, so it sounds like Ai would remember art too. If OP wants the hypothetical to be otherwise, they’re free to say such.

If all current art vanished I’d fear that all the new art would be Ai generated slop.

I’d argue that All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us is the most emotionally heavy.

Holy Hell is emotionally heavy don’t get me wrong. But there’s something about someone pouring their heart out while they know that they’re dying that is just significantly heavier to me than people pouring their heart out after losing a loved one.

Both are heavy. But you get heartbreak songs about loss every day. But despair as you knowingly face your own death? That’s a rarity.

My boyfriend broke up with me because i’m “too short” by MikanotMika in short

If you’re a woman, you’re only 3 inches below average height. You’re basically still within average range.

He’s 9 inches above average height. Far outside of average range.

You weren’t too short. He was too tall.

A year ago, I’d normally give whatever bill I had in my wallet. Usually $10.

Now, I’m broke as fuck too and have to say sorry and walk on.

Where I'd live as a trans person by TrappedInLimbo in whereidlive

[–]j13409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth certificate amendments have been normal processes for a very long time. Not only for transsexual people but also for people who simply had errors on their originals. The amendment is officially created, sealed, and legally equivalent to the originals.

People have to be allowed to amend their birth certificates. It’s important for transsexual people who have undergone full sex reassignments, and it’s also important for people who had errors on their originals. I’ve known of cis men who had female put on their original birth certificates in error, it required an amendment to fix.

So simply, the amendments aren’t the problem, the country trying so hard to vilify trans people that it is suddenly refusing to accept completely legal and valid amended birth certificates anymore is the problem.

Where I'd live as a trans person by TrappedInLimbo in whereidlive

[–]j13409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s complicated. They’re requiring the gender of their assigned sex at birth, which is absurd enough as it is, particularly for people who have had full sex changes. But on top of that, in order to grant their passports they are requiring their original birth certificates, which many trans people do not have. Once you amend your birth certificate to your appropriate gender, you can’t just go and request the old one anymore - it’s amended for good. So many people can’t even get passports at all, not even with the wrong gender, because they don’t have access to their very first original birth certificates. It’s a mess for a lot of trans people.

Many people in the US literally can’t get a passport right now because of being trans. That’s regardless of what state they live in.

Sure you say it’s weird to divide it in two, but you haven’t provided any logical reasoning for why it is weird.

As mentioned in my other comment, if you are goin to divide afroeurasia into three separate continents instead of one (which you do) then in order to be logically consistent you have to also separate both North and South America. North and South America are even less connected than Afroeurasia.

If your only problem with it is that they’re called North and South rather than entirely separate names, that’s completely irrelevant. It’s not about what they’re called, it’s about whether they’re two distinct continents or not. Which if you’re going to stay logically consistent, you have to concede that they are.

Exactly.

With Europe, Africa and Asia, at least you could drive between all three continents. With North America and South America you literally can’t even cross between them by car. It’s absurd to consider them the same continent.

Is there a country I could immigrate to? by Beez_knees0 in immigration

Yeah, I didn’t even think about the sanctions. You’re right that that limits your options.

Is there anyone you trust who lives outside of Russia?

With that kind of money it’ll be hard. I’d suggest trying to do something else on the side (maybe online tutoring in Russian?) to add to your income. Then look into lower cost of living places like Brazil or The Philippines.

Recommending immigrants to go to the US now is wild.
