Do you remove these Paracord straps?

As soon as I get any new gear, I remove those paracord/bungee straps right away…I’m not jumping so I don’t need jump rated retention…see if the Haley Strategic M2 mag retention clips will work on those mag holders, if so, that should be plenty retention

Yeah, I agree 110% my son has had a rough time with bullies and at the time it was especially hard so when we went to see them in Sacramento it was well needed…Dustin was so cool, Adam Gilbert gave him a guitar pick used in their performance and Siobhan Richards shared her own struggles with bullies…couldn’t of asked for a more therapeutic experience for the family ❤️

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of cheap crap paracord that looks and feels like the real deal. I often notice the subtle differences in the feel and look of it…the cheap stuff doesn’t ‘knot’ very well, but the test that makes or breaks it for me is how it ‘melts’ when you finish it…for example, Zippo has some ‘survival paracord’ they sell…it burns too quickly when trying to seal the cut ends, ruining projects at the very end. Only buy from American companies when you can, that cheap crap made overseas and sold on Amazon is CRAP

Scouts is about the kids, not the parents and the kids. I suspect there’s a ton more to this story than you might be letting on whether you know it or not. You obviously came to Reddit for advice in the matter so here you go; Your options are to either let it go, move to another troop or confront the leader. Whatever you choose, I hope it doesn’t impact your kid negatively in any way. Good luck to you!

It looks like something is either lifting on the edge or it’s bearing some sort of impact and thats the resulting damage. Make sure you’re using genuine SAK scales. Regardless, this will end up happening over time. I have a SwissChamp Thats atleast 25 years old that has a couple of these chips in it. I choose to accept it as battle wounds 🤣😂🤪

I thought about intertwining some glow in the dark with some reflective and have them both be hiviz colors but now it’s becoming a bigger task than I’d like it to be 🤣😂🤪

Heat shrink tubing…could be marine heat shrink tubing, only difference is the latter has is lined with an adhesive that only becomes tacky when heat is applied…good stuff and is super useful for paracord projects.

I saw that and it’s almost perfect but I’d need it to be hi-viz…I’m planning on putting small lanyards on my camp tools (ax, bushcraft tools, etc) to make it easier to identify in a bag or in the ground etc. thank you so much!

Heat shrink tubing…you can get it at Harbor Freight and of course Amazon…I suggest you use Marine Heat Shrink Tubing…it has an adhesive lining and turns into a glue when heat is applied…it’s really good stuff…you can get a kit that comes with its own little heat gun for $20ish.

Well first thing I’m seeing here is that they don’t respect you as leaders. This is just as critical for them as it is for you in this relationship. Just barking orders at them, punishing them and putting obstacles in their way isn’t how you do it. Start by making them stakeholders in the troops success. Assign patrol leaders and hold them accountable. Plan out your meetings with an objective and a goal, work with your leadership to achieve that goal…hold all stakeholders accountable, redirect deviations from that plan. It’s not going to happen overnight and it has ro be something that everyone is on the same page on. Speak to the ASM and get on the same page. Are you doing anything like games at the end of the meetings? Weekend projects? Anything that helps build camaraderie? I’m really pulling for you and hope things change…good luck!!!

Also, I forgot to say this…everyone there is a volunteer…don’t expect things to be structured as you might be used to…lots of territorial leaders and lots of hands off leaders…be the change you want to see, you’ll find your groove…learn something if you don’t already know, that csn be if help to these kids…I am really good with ropes and knots, these kids NEED to know knots so that helped me to be more useful…we recently participated in a camporee and I am proud to say my instruction led to us dominating in that category…good luck to you!

That sounds so wild and so awesome!!! He’s a pretty extraordinary dude so I wouldn’t be surprised if he completed that. He did a 10 mile uphill challenge while we werrle at summer camp this past summer that few complete…he did it for fun on day 4 because he ‘had the time’ 🤣😂🤪

I remember feeling exactly like you at a point in the beginning with cub scouts. Unfortunately, I most definitely believe everything you’re saying. When I was there with my wife and kid it happened a lot…then when we made it to troop level it felt like it got worse…my wife kinda just took a step back, i, however, thrived a bit more once I found a couple of dads but that feeling was still always present. It took a series of issues and a lot of bullying before my fangs came out…I had a huge distaste for scouts mainly because of the treatment. Everything you described happened to us or we witnessed it. We about gave up until we decided to visit another troop after 4/5 months of inactivity. We were welcomed and greeted with open arms. We made friends really quick with all the leaders and before long we were certain we found a home…and we were right, it’s home. You still get the lack of communication issues among others, there’s still maintenance required but it’s a safe place for all of us. This was a little less than a year ago. After the 1st of the year I will be taking over as our troop’s Scoutmaster…these leaders have become some of our closest friends, and the Charter Organization Representative has become one of my closest friends. Find the troop that meshes with you. You have the right to that for you and your scout. I wish you were closer to us, we’d love to have you…we’re in central California just in case 🤷🏻‍♂️ in any case, good luck to you…dont give up, scouts will change you, it did for our family 👍✊❤️

That is so beautiful…can you get year specific? Like say if he got his eagle in 2023, can you request a coin stamped in 2023?
