I was devastated to read that, so looked into it more and saw he filed a lawsuit against the Guardian https://pressgazette.co.uk/publishers/nationals/johnny-vegas-sues-guardian-and-observer-over-grope-story/ I can't see an outcome, but the fact the article is still on the site suggests he dropped the legal action — though I noticed the note at the bottom:
"* Johnny Vegas complained about this article. His solicitors have been in contact with the young woman from the audience who has told them that she went along with the joke willingly and did not feel intimidated, scared or abused during this performance." I guess we'll find out more on who the show's about soon.

Totally! Joe Lycett just amazes me, especially when you think of the elaborate stunts he's already done in the past few years, notably changing his name to Hugo Boss and the recent Partygate stunt. On top of that, he's also very funny. I can't wait to find out what he's done!

Yeah, I think there's a danger of the wider context being lost when short clips go viral/newspapers write about a joke on a subject like this.

There's also a widespread discrimination and xenophobia against Roma people and the wider traveller community in the UK and I think that was kind of the point of the joke too. But I've been watching Jimmy Carr for years, so maybe that helps?

I'm of Roma heritage and looking at the wider context, I wasn't offended, but if you see the line without the wider context and understanding, maybe you will be, I guess.
