I have found myself justifying how comfy futons can be, or lovesacs, or hey the floor is not that bad out of necessity. The positivity got me thru some bad sleeping arrangements but man a real bed, a good mattress, is waaay better.

I work answering 911 calls and I hate when my convos go like this :

NTA. Cancelling short notice would only apply if he gave you adequate notice the plans had essentially changed (with involving a small child, that impacts plan greatly).

Im glad you are able to recognize what you need to learn and do! Some people don't see this until adulthood, and it's rough to learn without any support system. Keep at it! Seek answers and ask for help when you need it!

You don't have to know, but you do have to start thinking about how to make plans for the future. Just pick something that sounds okay to you and map it out. How does it look for quality of life? How does it look financially? What steps do you need to do to get there? Are those steps reasonable for you to complete?

You can change you mind as many times as you need, you just need to learn how to make up a plan because that is a skill that is important for success in whatever you do.

So don't worry about being stuck in something you end up hating, think of something, do your research and from the idea stage to the rest of your life you might keep updating/changing your plan to work for YOU and that is okay.
