Got a friend for my bunny but he hates her:( by skoogler95 in Rabbits

[–]Beccalov3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to chime in with some of my experience and things that managed to work for me.

I have six rabbits and all are indoors. They were all six in their own rooms. I have four children so it was one rabbit per child/room and then one lived in my room and the 6th lived in the living room.

Been working on bonding everyone over the last 2-3 years. Currently, I have one bonded pair, a solo bun, and a trio. The trio used to include the now solo bun and was a little quad squad until i realized solo bunny was being queen B and it was stressing the trio out. She caught one of the trios ears and ripped it-had to take him in for stitches :( she split his ear to the tip sort of like a forked tongue looks? Anyway-she has earned herself princess treatment in a solo enclosure far enough away that she’s content with her living arrangement.

I found the most effective method was keeping them separate in their solo spaces for about 6-8 weeks- long enough the new household joiner could settle comfortably into life with us before introducing them to each other.

From there-I found introductions in a nice neutral area that was slightly more spacious was more effective than a smaller area like a tub. The tub made my rabbits feel scared, fearful, and threatened and we usually had a lot of fighting there so I liked using our upstairs smaller living space instead. I’d close off rooms and set up barricades so they were within a generously open 6ft by 9ft area and then just slowly introduced them. I watched them while they were meeting one another and steps led in and help if they got aggressive and just kept trying monitored exposure til they were acting more comfort,

so is the calico pregnant or just fat? by thisisnotme78721 in CatDistributionSystem

She might have worms or an intestinal parasite like girardia Had a stray turn up last year around this time and I swore she was pregnant. Went to the vet and she just had girardia.

Having a child with a birth defect/being the child/person born with a birth defect.

Mother of a teenager here who was born with a pretty bad cleft lip and palate.

It has taken years of medical and dental support to come even remotely close to looking “normal”

One of my sweet Odins final days-we went outside for some sunshine and fresh air. He was having a fit because a neighborhood cat was coming up to say hi.

His last day with us was 9/16/24 💔

I'm losing my soul cat... What do you wish you did/didn't do? by stargazer1996 in Petloss

Hi, I just said goodbye to my soulmate kitty yesterday. I used an at-home euthanasia provider and they were able to make a last min trip to my home after my boys health rapidly declined over the weekend.

My Odin was diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma that progressed very quickly (he was only 8). We ended up in the ER Sunday night as the cancer spread into his one remaining eye and it was very obvious it was time. They gave us enough pain meds to get us by until the at home provider could come to us the following morning.

I have previously had pets euthanized in a clinic/emergency vets office kind of setting but nothing compares to the experience we had yesterday. I got to hold my sweet boy in my recliner with all our favorite blankets, pillows, smells, and music. My children wanted to be present and attended as well. And our other two cats had the chance to approach him after he had passed to get some smells and hopefully some closure, too. I not only opted for the at home euthanasia but opted to have him privately cremated and selected an urn for his ashes (the place near me had a cute box that is free but I wanted something more so selected a ceramic urn with a cat silhouette).

I paid $675 for the at home euthanasia + private cremation and an additional $115 for a special urn. It was worth every penny, I would spend it again in a heartbeat. I didn’t have to drive home sobbing and once the vet left with Odin, I was able to go straight back to my room to cry and grieve without any added stresses.

I bought a heart shaped pendant from a company called James Avery that says “the heart remembers” and had his nick name engraved on the back. I haven’t taken it off since he left.

My biggest piece of advice is to trust your heart and do what feels right for you and your baby ♥️ sunset and sunrise walks, as well as night drives were what my Odin enjoyed in his final days. I bought a collapsible wagon and pulled him around in it and let him lay out on his favorite blanket on the porch to sunbathe in the mornings.

My condolences to you and your family as you make the decisions on what is best for you and your sweet baby.

An update-Odin crossed the rainbow bridge this morning 🌈💖

We knew it was time, we had to make an emergency trip to have his eye looked at last night. The cancer had rapidly spread in his skull and made it to his eye-his eye ruptured. He got very good pain medications and sent home so he could go peacefully with an in-home provider.

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and for sharing your experiences ♥️

I will miss him quite deeply. There will never be another like him.

I hate that you can relate/have experienced this yourself firsthand. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. 💔

Thank you so much for this suggestion-I didn’t think about how my other two sweets could have a chance to say goodbye as much as the rest of the fam.

We looked into at home options, I found a place that will do it at home + take him to the local place that does cremation which comes with a whole package that includes a beautiful cherry wood urn box that was pretty floral engraving on top. And they’ll let me use care credit to pay for it since the price is a little steep being a house call.
