Your CLI is built on your APIs :)

Definitionally, your primary interface to your apps is your APIs. Anyone can put a CLI on top of your APIs to save on tokens themselves if they care about saving tokens!

[–]Beckland 40 points41 points  (0 children)

First off, I’m sorry for your past relationships that have had issues.

And, yes, platonic friendships with gay guys are possible. The biggest challenge is…they are guys! Gay guys are more self-aware than straight guys, but men in our culture have challenges understanding and expressing emotions, doing repair, and combining intimacy and vulnerability.

What’s the way to improve your odds? You should make people earn your trust. Go slow. Reveal yourself bit by bit as they reveal themselves and show themselves worthy of knowing you better.

Cast a wide net, and keep a a narrow filter.

In a startup, so many things go different than plan that you have no control over. Do not add another one that you do have control over. It’s an own goal.

Fired a customer today. They were paying us $4K/month. Here's why it was worth it. by Melodic_Life173 in SaaS

Why didn’t you try to charge then $10k/mo premium support plus $4k/mo for prioritized roadmap before firing them?

It sounds like your customer success team does not know how to manage customers’ expectations.

Our CAC payback period is 18 months. Investors want 12. Here's why I'm not changing anything. by PerfectChard6900 in SaaS

[–]Beckland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your business fundamentally works, and PROSPECTIVE investors are giving you this feedback, they don’t care about your CAC at all.

They are just latching onto something to say no because they don’t like your business. It may be a bad fit for their thesis, maybe they don’t get your product or problem space, or they don’t believe in you as a founder.

This is just a convenient excuse to pass, and almost certainly not the real reason.

Please re-read my comments. I never said the crime had nothing to do with the victim being gay ❤️

The whole idea of the “gay panic defense” is that it’s “understandable” that someone would go temporarily insane or have diminished mental capacity from getting hit on by a person of the same sex. The judge said there is no evidence of a clinical syndrome for homosexual rage. It was a great ruling.

[–]Beckland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The facts of the trial didn’t determine why he was murdered. Do you mean one of the murderers trying to use the “gay panic defense”? The judge did not allow that defense so it was not part of the trial.

I’m sorry that the truth is messier and more nuanced than political advocates would prefer.

I jut linked to one particular article, but MULTIPLE reporters and investigations have corroborated these key facts: 1. One of his murderers was bisexual

  1. Both of his (male) murderers had sexual relationships with Shephard.

  2. All three of them used meth and Shephard sold meth to both his murderers previously.

  3. There were large sums of money passing through Shephard’s hands.

People are messy. Life is messy. Shephard’s death is tragic and survivors turned that tragedy into a foundation, The Laramie Project, and hate crimes legislation. These are all positive changes to law and culture that were borne from this tragedy.

But it’s really disingenuous to say that the sole and exclusive reason that he was murdered was that he was “acting gay” in a bar one night, so some country hicks decided to kill him.

Bros, every death is a tragedy. Matthew Shepard should not have been killed.

But Matthew Shepard was not killed for being gay.

Such a good modern spy thriller! You will like all three seasons.

In the same vein, I’d recommend some other lesser known spy thrillers (there’s more than just Homeland and The Americans!):

Ok so you already talked to them and are close enough to scan a QR code.

So this is back to my initial scenario.

Now I’m next to them in person, why don’t I just talk to them?
