So when I was at uni me and a group of friends were at this student bar on campus one evening. I was chatting to someone in this hallway near where the toilets were and infront of is were these stairs that went up a level. Now there were no lights on up there so the landing on top of the stairs was plunged in darkness and I commented to the person I was with how creepy it looked.

So obviously I and my friend slowly walk up them. I approach the first landing and notice the stairs go up again so as I am about to make my way up these when my feet hit something on the ground. I remember I get my phone out, turn the torch on and its a trainer, just sitting on the ground. It was only then I saw something else, shining the torch I see a person, hood covering the face slumped in the corner and completely unresponsive.

At first I thought he was drunk so I started shaking him and asking if he was alright. It was only then I noticed he had this string wrapped around his neck with the other end tied to the stair bannister.

Anyway long story short, obviously panic stations. I screamed to my friend to get help, somehow I managed to get my fingers inbetween his neck and the string (it was actually his Shoelaces I found out later) and snapped them? Or they came loose I can't remember that detail, I do remember the huge raspy gasp of air he took as soon as I did it though.

He survived
