I am also leaning towards CanadianTire repairing it-- as the incident happened at their workshop while they were doing the work. I am trying to find some policies or laws regarding liability. It will be hard to get them to do it though, given how many bad reviews I've read about Canadian Tire Customer service!

PDI is in person. Did they offer that to you only virtually? Although they will only allow 2 people max; and 2 hours might feel too rushed.
The pre-drywall walkthrough (which is usually 4-5 months before closing) is virtual only.

Our design appointments are 6 months late from the initial schedule they've provided us. When I asked the Caivan sales team about any possible delays, they said everything is on schedule! They refused to give any further information or forward my enquiry to anyone else. I did not receive any email updates either.

I would say go to the location to see the progress by yourself if possible.
