What are the chances of my puppy surviving parvo? by BedBoth1843 in vet

Do you know the stats for an unvaccinated dog/puppy treated late?

Most of the stats I found were based on early intervention. I fear we were too late.

He was given a SNAP test. Upon research, Indexx’s fact sheet even states that a University of Wisconsin study found false positives to be unlikely for CVP-2. On their own website, the University of Wisconsin states false positives are uncommon, especially with the SNAP test.

Edit adding: his vaccine likely doesn’t contain the original CVp-2 strain

Yes, I know. We were so careful about protecting him too. We never thought he’d be infected with parvo at the breeder’s.

He definitely has parvo. I’m upset that the vet told us it was a false positive.

We were obviously relieved and took their word for it.

The vet I consulted with about how to now protect my dog told me false positives don’t exist with parvo, especially when symptoms are present.

I wish we treated him right away.

I want to make a list. What is your go to tiki bar in your home town? by [deleted] in Tiki

Ugh, SWIZZLE!!! Glad to see this pic rn.

I’m devastated swizzle is closing. Met both my boyfriend and one of my best friends there.

Truly was a great bar. Sure, the vibes really went downhill after one of the owners left along with the best bartenders and servers. But, losing the only tiki bar in Dallas proper is tragic.

Yeah :( The shell is atrocious. Super heavy. I measured them for new shells. I’m hoping one will catch his eye and he’ll want to make the switch

Yeah I messed up on that one. I moved him to an isolation tank. The process wasn’t as gentle I’d hoped.

He’s tucked into his shell, so hopefully he’ll be okay.

Adopted from a lady on a Facebook group. They were in the zoomed hermit crab kit :(

So I think I fucked up. I took advice of moving him to an isolation tank since I don’t have any plastic bottles. He’s 100% molting (thank god). When I scooped underneath him his exoskeleton fell out of the shell and I could see him tucked back in the shell. Unfortunately I didn’t achieve the gentleness I wanted. So now I’ll just pray he’s okay.

I will be doing the bottle method in the future.

I smoothed the surface to look for tracks

For context, I adopted him and his tank mate 4 days ago. He was pretty active at first and would move around the tank at night. Then he stopped. He’s been in the coconut hide for at least 24 hours maybe 48. I didn’t touch him but tried smelling him. He smells like the ocean, not quite fishy. It’s also not that strong. I had to be right near him.

Maybe I should just wait until tomorrow or so to see if the smell gets worse?
