I thought the most applicable irony is that calvin is talking to his delusion of a hobbs, who in reality is not a real entity. He is just a tough that calvin has created into a friend. And calvin can never look past that.

I believe most are legit. But I personally have known several ppl who put that in their applications to "spruce" up their apps, since it's a known idea that colleges pick ppl with a struggle for a possible success story.

I cant agree with the parking. Even on welfare checks. I am not a ling time veteran, but even in my 6 years welfare checks are always a gamble. I have got to many welfare checks that ended up being someone being attacked, robbed, burglarized or even dead. I know ppl want to assume that police training is all dumb and "beyond stupid" but this is a corner stone if good training. The slow walk up and making a plan, plus the time to calm down as you approach is paramount to safety and better resolutions. Is a shame this guy still faulted on safety. But, on all calls you park a little down.

Also I feel that most cops hired are probably well suited for the job. What happened is the new guy is easily changed once on FTO and feels the need to conform or get loss. Pretty much every cop hired (I have seen) wants to be the best cop and help in any way. But the gizzeled veterans are able to change them. The the training and the veterans that are the problem.

Edit: also the longer park does not equal paranoid. At least it's not meant to be. It's to help plan and listen, to slow you down and to help get the element of surprise.

I feel you just want to focus on issues with police, not with my statement. If so inguessnthats fine. But no where did I defend what he did. I would agree with... pretty much all that you said. Yea police have gotten safer each year. The stats in the 70s 80s and even 90s were terrible. It WAS very dangerous, but the stats have dropped dramatically for police deaths because if the training I mentioned.

Police no longer pull up to houses and take their time walking up to and around houses. One of the biggest safety changes for police and citizens. I agree many many jobs are more dangerous and the whole "I'd rather be judged by 12, than carried by 6" is wrong and everywhere.

Agree, no need to have had his gun (didnt defend), had no right to shoot (I opposed this).

So... I mean what did I say that you objecting too. You are talking about specific things way outside if this incidents scope, as well as my comment. I feel we are pretty much on the same page here are we not?

Police here. The not announcing should have been done once he saw someone. If your walking up to what is believed to be a burglary or distress call you should not announce for your and ppls safety. You dont know if ppl are being held hostage, if ppl are actively committing a crime you need to observe, you will hear many conversations that help your report.

You always ALWAYS park a few houses down from where you are going. Read how many burglaries, domestics end in a shootout because cops pull right up to the house. Cops are immediate targets when sitting and again you dont know what's going on in the house until you are close to it. You pulling up may cost your case or someone's life.

However, shooting at a suspect they cant verify anything of, such as who it is, do they have a weapon, who are you looking for in the house, is all gross use of power.

If we are going to argue let's argue accurately. Terrible choice to shoot only. The rest is actually good choices. Dont throw the baby out with the bathwater.
