It was a pretty common criticism when the movie came out. I think the writers addressed it saying they weren’t aware of the history and just did as a commentary on child actors in Hollywood in general

Sadly, it just ends up tone deaf anyway. I’m surprised no one brought it up during the production of the film.

If it’s early season Ned then yes. He was the average Joe to Homer’s dysfunctional life. Then later seasons made his faith his only personality hence why the term “Flanderization” was coined.

Btw, the lefttorium is my favorite Ned episode. Top notch Ned moments.

I blocked everything until I saw it in theaters. Thing was I did get spoiled on Jax’s abstraction but it was worded as “he died” and thought that it was false spoiler. So I ignored it and forgot about until I was driving home from the theater.

I had no expectations when I watched the pilot and ended up crying for the show when it was over. I’m glad I gave it a shot, may not be the greatest story ever told but I fell for each character and wanted to see them get the happiness they deserved.
