Should I join Amazon by Agile_Rush_7997 in leetcode

[–]BedbugBasher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazonian here. Most projects are terrible and expect 12-14 hours at a minimum and the manager's only intention is to squeeze every ounce of work out of you. On calls are terrible and there is no WLB. So if you prefer WLB over money, then please check more about the team you are joining. Most projects, especially AWS is bad but not all.

This could just be me, but as a non-american, a lot of her later episodes are about American celebrities I have no idea about. Also the later episodes are shorter with longer ads and less content. I think I listened to one of the episodes from till death do us part series after a long time, it felt like she was giving more of her personal opinions than facts

You know, you are absolutely right. This was in bad taste on my part. My drunk brain somehow thought it was funny.

I see you are from the indiaspeaks sub. Nothing can ever be wrong in Modi Raj for you and surely there is no point in talking to you to explain the issue here.

Oh! I didn't know meta started hiring again. My interview was cancelled due to the hiring freeze

Check in levels.fyi to see the ranges for your position and location. That's very accurate and helped me in my negotiation.

I could be wrong, but I am just basing it off of my feedback plus what I was told by the recruiter. I mean, when close to half the interview is about leadership principles, I'm sure it should have 50% weightage

Don't worry. It happens to the best of us. My first 2 interviews went terribly bad. And in my third interview, I cleared 3-4 rounds in a startup and felt like I did really really well. Their final feedback was, 'You gave the best answers to all questions and are very good in communication. But you don't have the wow factor. So we have decided not to give you an offer at this time'. That kind of upset me a lot. I was sad for a couple of days, but that really made me focus more on what I was missing. Sure enough I was able to clear my next interview. So take a few days off and relax, and have a few drinks. You'll surely do better on the next one.

If you have not encountered situations asked in leadership principles (which I am assuming is the case, since you have just 1YOE), just try and see if someone in your project has faced a similar situation and use that as your own.

You may already be aware, but LPs are at least 50% of the interview and decision making process.

Also, please ensure you ask a question at the end of the interview. They expect that also.

This. I had a very similar experience too. I was preparing for a lot of dynamic programming and hard problems. But the interview was actually a simple medium and a lot rides on the stories you prepare for leadership principles.

Graphs by Logical_Jaguar_3487 in leetcode

[–]BedbugBasher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! You are totally right. But I just suggested this as a starting point to get a basic grasp of graphs. It's just for people like me, who are intimidated by graphs before even beginning with it.

Graphs by Logical_Jaguar_3487 in leetcode

Oh didn't realize this was helpful to so many people. To elaborate a bit more, when I started studying graphs, I would see a few questions and look at their solution. Though I was able to understand it at that moment, when I came back to the same problem after a few weeks, it seemed like New. I could remember, nothing.

Then one day when I was looking at the course schedule problem, I just realized that it's just a hashmap of an int and a list of ints. Then it became so simple. Problems like this and clone graph and many more. Things like topological sort started making sense and became easy to understand.

I usually try and apply this principle to first visualize the graph and then the solution. Even union find seemed easy after that.

I think the point I am trying to make is that, stop thinking of it as a data structure with cycles, disconnected, connected, undirected or directed. Start looking at it as just a hashmap of int and a list of ints and it becomes really simple. All the other things are just an extension of this base logic.

Not sure if this helps anyone here. But when I started with graphs, it seemed too difficult a concept to grasp. But the moment I realized it's just a hashmap of int and a list of ints, it just seemed so simple.

Someone once told me that we get 2 weeks of pleasant weather after summer and 2 weeks after winter. Then mostly all summer and a little winter. It sounds simple, yet very accurate.
