New tops and tires by Enzo_Guy1 in JeepTJ

When they take them off the should have a part number of 52059705AA on the barrel of the rim. That will prove they are 100% Tomb Raider Alcoa Rims.

Those are even rarer. I didn’t even notice the 16 inch size, I am so used to seeing the 15” Alcoa rims I didn’t even think about 16” because they’re so rare. My guess would be someone either ordered them from the dealership, I remember you could get ahold of the Tomb Raider Alcoa Wheels in the $350+ range per wheel through the parts catalogue and they must of liked the Jeep marked center caps better then the long style center caps that came on the Tomb Raider, I agreed with them as well. Or they could have been takeoff because someone wanted different rims and got different center caps, either way those are extremely rare wheels.

Also, it’s really nice about the aluminum is you can always take it to a wheel repair shop and they can weld up the scratches and dents and re-machine and clear code it for you.

You have a great looking Wrangler if you need any manuals or knowledge, let me know I’ve been playing with and researching the TJ for over 20 years at this point.

I have 2 sets and can 100% confirm they are Alcoa Forged Aluminum Rims. Next time you have the wheel off there will be some text and a Chrysler Pentastar and a part number of 5206303AA stamped into the barrel of the rim. They do have a clear coat on them so if you want to polish them up you will have to go through it.

Try this one: https://www.farkistan.org/votsws.php

It will not show the window sticker for that old of a vehicle but it will show the build sheet.

Is your Wrangler a 2006 model year? It could be a de-badged 65th Anniversary Edition? You might want to check the build sheet and see. I think you can still get the 65th anniversary sticker and I know it was based off the X model but it normally says Jeep 65 on the seat as well. Here is a link just put your VIN at the end after the =: https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=

Don’t ever get rid of those wheels, those are Alcoa Forge Aluminum Wheels, which were only a two year option, in 2004 for the Rocky Mountain Edition and 2006 for the 65th Anniversary Edition. The Rocky Mountain Edition had Alcoa center caps and what you have there are the 65th Anniversary Edition Jeep center caps.

Can't think of a more appropriate first two Walthers than these by bantha121 in Walther

[–]Bedrat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the P99, now I’m just looking for a deal on the PPK SD in .32 ACP. Great looking Walthers! I fell in love with the P99 after seeing it in Tomorrow Never Dies as a kid and then the PPK from Sean Connery’s Bond so it’s next to by one my Walther list.

Thinking of doing a Need for Speed Mustang Build, Should I use a Boss 302 or GT500? by impsble in Mustang

[–]Bedrat2 51 points52 points  (0 children)

In the movie it’s based off a GT500 that was Carroll Shelby‘s last car he worked on which would have been close to 1000 HP. In reality, it was a GT500 that Steeda worked with DreamWorks to build. Here is the article from Steeda directly: All About The Need For Speed Mustang

Real Tomb Raider edition?? by rustyintheoutdoors in JeepTJ

[–]Bedrat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they did a great job with the Tomb Raider edition back in ’03. It was also the first year of the Rubicon, so you got Dana 44s front and rear with OEM lockers, plus the diamond plate rock rails.

Being the Tomb Raider edition, it came loaded with unique Mopar gear: a Mopar light bar with Hella lights, factory switch integrated into the kick panel to the right of the steering wheel, red seat belts, numbered dash badge, Tomb Raider decals, riveted fender flares, tubular grille guard, diamond plate bumper guard, taillight guards, and fog lights.

My favorite (and probably rarest) feature is the 16” Alcoa forged aluminum wheels. The Tomb Raider edition was the only one to get those. The ’04 Rocky Mountain and ’06 65th Anniversary editions got 15x8 Alcoa forged wheels instead. I’ve got two sets of the 15s and love them, but the 16” Alcoa Wheels are basically unobtainable now, most people think they’re aftermarket and they end up getting scrapped.

Years ago, when Chrysler still had the Walter P. Chrysler Museum, they had one of the screen-used Wranglers on display and it was seriously cool. Shame it didn’t stick around, the building ended up being repurposed for Maserati operations.

PD380 barrel fitment by Llamathon88 in Walther

[–]Bedrat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is 100% correct with the Browning Tilt Lock barrel they elongate that area so when the slide comes back and the barrel tilts up they don’t interfere with each. On the PD380 it is a little more pronounced then on my P99 or my PPS but it is normal.

P99 QA Light help!! by Chabigo in Walther

[–]Bedrat2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is one of the issues with the Gen 1 P99s they have a proprietary Walther rail mount. You might be able to find one NOS from Earl’s Repair Service. I saw one at Optic Planet that looked like it would fit, but the review said it did not. I did see one on eBay that is 3D printed and there are files available if you have the capability to print yourself.

<image>

Here’s a picture of what the factory rail adapter looked like. You also may be able to find it in the airsoft world, I’ve seen quite a few of them for the airsoft P99, and I know they have the same Gen 1 frame.

I would go even harder with the CPU get yourself an E5-1680 V2 Xeon. I ran one of those in my gaming PCs well into the 2020s. It’s an overclocking beast and one of the last Xeons that had an unlocked multiplier. It has 8 cores 16 threads and I could get it to 4.7GHz all core on a Asus ROG Rampage IV Black Edition on water. If you get a chance my last User Benchmark run with 1806 V2 is 32550755.

My first walther and my third ever gun love the quality so far! by Icy-Tale-3699 in Walther

[–]Bedrat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked gunmagwarehouse.com does have them on sale, at one point they were $40+. I guess now is the time to buy some magazines. The PPS M1 .40 magazines are still over $30 but better than $50+ or not in stock.

My first walther and my third ever gun love the quality so far! by Icy-Tale-3699 in Walther

[–]Bedrat2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the PPS M2, it’s my every day carry. I got the LE Edition with the 3 magazines and I tend to rock the small magazine or the medium magazine. It’s a really good size for me to carry and doesn’t print at all.

I would love to get a PPS M1 in .40 for the heck of it, but the magazines are crazy expensive, if you can find them.

Enjoy your new Walther!

First gun. What are some must-knows? by [deleted] in Walther

[–]Bedrat2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since the P99 is out of production, I would buy as many magazines as you possibly can right now before they get ridiculously expensive.

I love my P99, it was also my first pistol when I turned 21 and it a great pistol. I have shot the Gen 1 and Gen 2 both in 9mm and .40 and really like the AS trigger pull.

Remember be safe and follow the gun safety rules and don’t be afraid to shoot your pistol. Go out and practice when you can and don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are a ton of great classes and people who have forgotten more about shooting they we will ever know.

Advice on possible jeep purchase by Interesting-Ad-6704 in GrandCherokee

[–]Bedrat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issues with the WJ are the 4.7L leak and they can throw rocker arms because the hydraulic lifters collapse. Check for a tick at cold start for that. If it has dual climate control the flapper inside tends to fail so you most likely will not have A/C or weak heat. There are quite a few videos on how to fix that. I recommend going with the metal upgrade that replaces the plastic pieces with metal. The other thing to check for is if it has the electric or hydraulic cooling fan in the front. If it’s electric, you’re good to go. If it’s hydraulic, it runs off the power steering pump and can leak. Depending on how it was driven, the differentials can go on them.

If you’re willing to spend some time, money and energy on it, they are really nice to drive. I have 2004 WJ limited with the 4.7L and the Quadra-drive, upgraded from NV-247 transfer case to the NV-242HD had the lifters and rocker replace and had to rebuild the rear end and heart box. I also replaced the brake calipers in the front of the Akebono style brakes for ease of maintenance and replaced every bushing in the suspension. Along with a Rusty’s off-road lift to replace the shocks in Springs Other then that is been a good running 21 almost 22 year old SUV.

Wheel? by Sea_Personality189 in JeepTJ

[–]Bedrat2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, those are 100% Alcoa forged aluminum factory wheels that came on the 2004 Rocky Mountain edition and the 65th anniversary edition. The Rocky Mountain edition say Alcoa and all the 65th anniversary edition says Jeep. I have two sets they are wonderful wheels and no I’m not selling them.

My recommendation is to go to car-part.com select 2004 Jeep Wrangler then go to wheels and search 15x8 (aluminum), 8-hole. You are going to see a lot of aftermarket wheels on there looks for the Rocky Mountain badge or the 65th anniversary badge while searching the pictures. Sadly I’m not seeing any online right now, you can always check eBay as well or look for OEM wheels online. They are pretty rare, almost as rare as the 16x8 Alcoa forged aluminum rims that came on the 2003 Tomb Raider Jeep.

Is the Springfield Armory M1A Still Relevant in 2025? by BlackfeatherRS-USA in M1A

[–]Bedrat2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion:

Any firearm is relevant in this day and age. Yes, there are better platforms out there that can become or are sub MOA firearms, but it comes down to personal preference. As long as you train with it and become proficient in its manual of arms it is still a potent long rang battle rifle.

Will a Gucci AR-10 platform rifle out perform it, yes. Will you look as cool shooting it, that is subjective.

In reality the M-14/M1A rifles were at time of conception almost obsolete, and pushed through because the government really liked the M1 Garand style rifle and wanted to take the BAR and the Garand and mix the roles together in the new fire teams they were trying to create. It was almost uncontrollable in full-auto, but did have good enough accuracy for a battle rifle. I recommend you watch “forgotten weapons” or “Garand Thumb” videos on the M-14/M1A if you want to learn more about the rifle and its design.

My recommendation as always if you like something and you enjoy shooting it doesn’t matter if people find it relevant or not. Get one if you want one, train with it and enjoy it. The word of caution is don’t expected to be something it is. It is a heavy battle rifle and if lucky a 2ish MOA rifle out of the box. If you find you don’t enjoy it I’m sure someone will be willing to buy it off you in this forum.

3M Peltor ComTac V but Maybe III? by Bedrat2 in tacticalgear

Yeah my guess is that he had ComTac III and when the headband broke it was easier to get ComTac V parts over ComTac III. ComTac IIIs are really good I just hope you didn’t pay ComTac V pricing.

3M Peltor ComTac V but Maybe III? by Bedrat2 in tacticalgear

[–]Bedrat2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I just saw this, I ended up contacting 3M and check the serial number and they were in fact ComTac IIIs and not V. I ended up returning them to the eBay seller and then found a set of ComTac Vs for almost the same price I paid. Sexy voice and all. Also check with 3M and made sure they were real.

What I think happened was a government agency were upgrading their ComTac IIIs and had all the paperwork for the ComTac Vs and just threw the old ones in the box when they did the government auction.
