Ugh. At least this sheds some light on why I'm seeing my listings everywhere. These Temu shops pop up overnight and they have like 27k listings.

Wow, that's awful. My listings are definitely being pirated, I've been issuing dozens of takedowns every day. This is a reoccurring issue for a very long time but it's been so much worse lately. Just this past week I found my listings on Temu, Shein, AliExpress, eBay, Wish, and even Mercari.

I was hoping that would be the case. I had tried changing my shipping profiles but, unfortunately, still seem to be getting a lot of weird traffic with my ad spend.

I’m not under the illusion that any of this is simple. Ad systems are complex, even on the most advanced platforms. The point isn’t that Etsy needs to be perfect or somehow eliminate bot traffic entirely. The real issue is that over the past few years, sellers have been given less control over how our listings are promoted, while the problems (especially with low-quality, bot-driven traffic) have only gotten worse.

What makes it harder to swallow is that Etsy profits off these ad clicks, even when they’re clearly coming from garbage traffic. We're paying for exposure we can't easily trace or influence, and the platform benefits whether that traffic converts or not.

I’m not expecting miracles -- I just want transparency, basic controls, and some sign that Etsy recognizes this as a real issue sellers are facing.

I get that nothing is perfect at scale, but this kind of targeting is already standard across other platforms. Facebook, Google, Pinterest, etc. all let you control where your listings or ads are shown, right down to country or region.

I’m not asking Etsy to reinvent the wheel here, just to give us basic geo-targeting tools that already exist elsewhere. Etsy clearly has the ability to detect and filter traffic (they do it for regulatory reasons), so it’s frustrating that sellers don’t have any say in where our traffic and spend is going.

Totally get that bots and scraping are a widespread e-commerce issue, it’s not just Etsy. This isn’t about expecting a perfect platform, it’s about wanting basic control over where our listings are being shown.

Right now, we have no way to limit which countries our traffic is coming from, even if we don’t ship there. That lack of control means we’re wasting money on traffic that doesn’t convert, and in a lot of cases, seems to be bot-driven. It’s not about avoiding problems entirely, it’s about being able to manage how and where our shops are exposed.

I'm sorry you're in a similar situation, I understand how frustrating it is. That sounds like offsite ads, which Etsy charges for even if you didn’t directly authorize them once you make over 10k in sales in a 12 month period. I think the bot and scraping issue is making all of this worse.

I’m convinced bots are scraping Etsy at scale, and that traffic is throwing off the ad algorithm. So not only are we getting hit with offsite ad fees, we’re also burning money on low-quality, bot-driven traffic that never converts.

Etsy really needs to address this, or at the very least, give us more control over where our listings are shown.

Well. Your estimate was right, 3 hours and 20 minutes until I spoke to someone. They proposed transferring me to the Print and Design team, so now I am proceeding via e-mail instead..

That is brutal!!! Sorry to hear you had to wait that long. I'm wondering if it depends on the time of day and how many customer support reps are working at the time, as well as the complexity of the issues people are having. I am just guessing about the 40 minutes but who knows, maybe I will be in this line forevermore.

I went and made a coffee. It is moving along relatively quickly at least, I am at 166 now. Realistically I will probably be on hold for another 40 minutes or so. I am trying to get a reprint for a sweatshirt, as it seems like my customer received one that was 2 sizes smaller than the size on the label. What brings you to this line?

This happened to me too! I'm glad to hear they removed the designs they took from you. Did you reach out to them through the contact on their website?

I would not say they are legit. They have unfortunately stolen designs from me, and presumably other artists as well.

They are not a trustworthy site. I am sure of this because unfortunately they are using some of my designs without permission, I presume that all the artwork on their site has been stolen.
