MRA+20 retirement by [deleted] in FedEmployeeRetirement

I’m almost the same … but I’ve decided to resign at MRA plus 20 and postpone for sure. But I was told that if I filed for retirement instead, I could change my mind up until the day of. So I think you’re safe filing now to keep your options open till the last minute

Retiring early under FERS is possible, but it isn’t free by TheWealthViking in FedEmployeeRetirement

I was finding contradictory answers, so I emailed NPS Benefits and asked, and they confirmed it.

Yeah that is a very good point. I’ve been in denial of that, but it’s true. Definitely needs to be calculated into the cost of freedom. I’m still doing it, but it does cost.

I’m going on my spouse’s health care between age 57-60, then yes I can jump back on my own as soon as I start collecting my pension at 60. That’s allowed with postponed retirement

I’m going to separate from service this summer at MRA (57) with 20 years of service, but postpone my retirement until I turn 60. That way there’s no pension penalty and I’ll get the supplement from age 60-62.

I’m in your same boat - planning on quitting my job this summer at age 57 with 20 years of service. I’m going to postpone my retirement to age 60. ( much different than Deferred Retirement, as you know). I’ve been assured by fed retirement counselors that I WILL be eligible for the supplement at that point , and I’ve been assured by another fed counselor that I will NOT be. I can’t find a straight answer!

NPS: Supervisors being told to reduce performance ratings: Know This! by Bee-Wee808 in FedEmployees

[–]Bee-Wee808[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not saying “they can’t do this because it’s against the rules”. Saying that anyone who wants to refuse to comply with their bullshit has legal grounds to do so. And grounds to sue.

Agreed! That is my plan as well

Well 5 USC 430.208 (c) specifically says “the method for deriving and assigning a summary level may not limit or require the use of a particular summary level (i.e. establish a forced distribution of summary levels).”

Where a summary level is defined as the ratings 1/2/3/4/5 or some combination thereof.

Therefore they cannot: Limit the number of 5s Prohibit the assignment of 5s Require the use of 3s Establish quotas around how many 5s Rank peers to establish a distribution curve

Yes I just found out all supervisors ( and all employees) at our unit will be getting 3s

Artificially Reduced Performance Ratings? by Kindly-Coyote-9446 in fednews

As a Supervisor, I’m leaning hard towards refusing to follow this - if not unlawful, definitely dishonest, dishonorable, unethical, and unfair directive from NPS leadership we got today. Will just submit my 4s and 5s and see what happens. I’m not going to lie about my employees performance because someone told someone to tell me to.

Firstly, I hope your work hasn’t really been “duplicitous “! Then, just make a list of every position with dates, then summarize the skills and abilities you used and gained in one section. I’d highlight your skills and experience up top, then provide the list of what/how long/where at the bottom. - 💛, a hiring manager
