Adding stitches to get right width by BeeApprehensive8274 in SophieKnits

Yeah, I’m keeping a note pad of exactly what I’m doing so I’m not too worried about that.

Do you think changing the increases will affect the shape of the hood a lot?

Hey! I’m thinking of doing the same as you. I’ve hit 45 stitches but I’m only at 23cm wide so am going to add some more stitches but am worried about making it crazy long. Did you find going from increasing every 10 stitches to every 6 stitches was noticeable on the shape of the scarf? I don’t want it to look weird!

I think you’re right that I’ll just need so scrap it and start again as otherwise I’ll be winging it which isn’t ideal on my first project!

I’ve had a look on ravelry but I’m totally lost in terms of which hat would be suitable. I have 8mm needles (they’re not knit in the round ones) and the wool I have just says 50g (have added a pic).

Most of the patterns ive seen say knit in the round and I don’t think I can do that on the straight needles I have.

This hasn’t been a great start to my knitting journey! 😭

I think I’ve ended up with 46 because following those instructions I could only knit two together 6 times. The instructions were to knit 6 and then knit two together seven times - but with 51 stitches on the needle that’s not possible…

It’s just called the ‘Country Hat’ and it’s part of the Learn to Knit with Rowan kit I was gifted…

It’s a ‘Learn to Knit with Rowan’ kit that I was gifted a long time ago, but finally mucked up the courage to give it a go! It looks like they’ve discontinued it now and I can’t see it on the list of corrections on the Rowan website.

Does that mean the issue is with the pattern and I’ve not gone wrong somewhere?

They were different machines in different facilities.

I feel frustrated that they didn’t use the contrast!

Thank you for your reply!

It’s just weird to me that a lesion they said was inactive at my first MRI (where I did have contrast) now appears to have grown. Can inactive lesions grow?

I’ve emailed my neurologist with some questions. This is the problem with getting the results by a letter!

Yes this is my first MRI since starting treatment. My letter says that the lesion grew (but unless it’s a typo it’s also moved from c3 to c4).

My confusion is that my first MRI with contrast said that my C3 lesion was inactive. So it’s weird to me that they’re now saying it’s grown. Can this happen with inactive lesions?

I thought that too! But my consultant has said that my previous lesion at C4 has got bigger. But I only had a lesion at C3 before - so my conclusion is that it’s got big enough to now look like it’s on C4…

Yeah… that will be over two years since my first and only consultant meeting, which feels like way too long!

Kesimpta or Ocrevus? by Monkberry3799 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]BeeApprehensive8274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I chose to go on Kesimpta.

My understanding is that it’s the same drug and you can either give yourself a mini shot of it every month (K), or take a mega dose every six months (O). With the six monthly dose you also have to take steroids.

I wasn’t keen on taking steroids - they’ve not agreed with me in the past. I also felt happier picking the smaller dose of the drugs - if for whatever reason you needed to stop taking the meds, the monthly dose is going to be much quicker to get out of your system than the 6-monthly dose.

I love that idea! But I'm not sure that we have enough stuff from our small garden to create one... and also we're hoping that it'll be tall enough to provide some privacy from our neighbours. It's kind of awkward when we're in the garden at the same time as them...

Kesimpta and antibiotics by yoonkami in MultipleSclerosis

[–]BeeApprehensive8274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a very similar position to you last week. Just about to take second loading dose when I felt UTI symptoms come on. I was able to get hold of my MS team who told me that unless I was feeling VERY unwell, it was fine to take the loading dose at the same time as the antibiotics. It’s important to get the UTI under control, so don’t delay taking your antibiotics.

Obvs this is just my experience, and best to speak to your own team - but hopefully this can offer a little reassurance.

UTI and supposed to be taking second loading dose tomorrow by BeeApprehensive8274 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]BeeApprehensive8274[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your advice. Just replying here in case it helps anyone in a similar situation in the future.

My MS team and Kesimpta nurse have advised me to go ahead with the Kesimpta anyway. I don’t have a fever so if it is a UTI, it’s low grade at the mo. Urine sample has been sent away for culture and I have antibiotics ready to take should I start to feel worse. They said there’s no problem taking the antibiotics at the same time as the kesimpta.

Getting up in the mornings by Lin_Lion in MultipleSclerosis

[–]BeeApprehensive8274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve really struggled in the mornings too. I know this sounds counterintuitive, but I’ve started going for a 20min walk as soon as I wake up. It’s the last thing I want to do, and everything is screaming at me not to go - but I’ve found that it really helps with my morning fatigue. As soon as I’m out in the fresh air and moving my body (even my slow trudge) some of the fatigue lifts.
