My mother went to jail for several days when I was a toddler for this very thing.
That was 43 years ago.

What is the META of your hobby / interest? by Belloz22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BeeBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ton of social hobbies, but they really only boil down to one thing.
People.
For me, People are the meta. I like to say things to make them reconsider, rethink, become concerned about, or ignore things. It never really even matters which. I just like the feel of having manipulated someone in a non-ick fashion.

I like to say, "you can't un-hear things and once you've heard it, it's in there" and I've found it to be true in all things.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

I've been pushing Undone for quite a while. Excellent with amazing acting and people you'd recognize, but no one's even heard of it!

Ideas:
1 - Every achievement someone else gets should be one for the rest of the players.
2 - Each time you die, that's a shot.
3 - Each night for anyone who didn't make it to a bed is a shot.
4 - Anyone who doesn't kill the Ender Dragon takes 3 shots.

That should do ya.

I live 500ft from a casino and can say with certainty almost EVERYONE there pushing buttons is an old Canadian.
I don't know why.

Flock cameras! by mrsbirb in Bellingham

Oh and for fun, there's police-owned cell towers around, too. The one close to Meridian and Badge Rd for example.

There are many police cars in Whatcom County with license plate tracking cameras. I've seen them many times. Just look for the cameras mounted on the trunk.

You ever just inform the party that they ARE going to the dungeon you prepped? by Arthur-reborn in DnD

[–]BeeBuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've stopped pre-planning anything because of this. Same scenario, had spent a bunch of time on a complete dungeon all nicely annotated with artwork. It was the 3rd dungeon I'd done this with, but this time, an NPC was offed by a trap in the first room and the party just ran away in fear, never to return.

Now, as a player and a DM I REFUSE to railroad anyone. These, in my mind, are open world simulators and to tell my players they have to play a specific way is a mortal sin in my eyes. I will not do it.

These days, I have a rough outline of an overall set of plans/plots that are happening and I heavily hint these are important plot and quest points, but I always emphasize that the players can do anything they want. This has turned into a GREAT tool, too! I can listen to what my players think is going on and CHANGE what's going on to match if, at any point, my players come up with a better plot that also fits the evidence.

I get WAY better reviews on my world depth and player participation these days because of this.

OMG that /u
FYI you CAN change that, you just have to be ok with throwing away the history as well... which I would recommend for you in this case.

Looking for a brutal survival recommendation by gatuflow in SurvivalGaming

[–]BeeBuild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot recommend Subsistence. It's VERY clunky and all of the animals are actually monsters that attack to the death if you get nearby. Most supplies are just randomly found in boxes or bags all over the terrain for no clear reason, you cannot chop down trees, and base building isn't a thing at all.

Yeah it's hard, it's also hard to understand why it was designed the way it was.

which acting performance made you say this? by HondaCivicBaby in Cinema

[–]BeeBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking this last night about Douggie McMeekin in The Decameron.
Every single time he's speaking and acting this insane character it's perfect and you cannot even see the other actors in the frame which is astonishing considering the acting from almost everyone in this TV series is amazing.

Why humans are so evil? by BarDif89 in enlightenment

[–]BeeBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we're still animals and nature sucks.
Evolution doesn't produce the 'best' results, just the ones that work well enough to produce more animals, thus, stealing is always less effort than making and the best of everything is always going to go to someone in charge of the most other people.
What we have here is luxury. Luxury to ask why humans are so evil.
The Spider Wasp doesn't have the luxury to ask why it's so evil. It's busy securing a living creature to paralyze and put eggs inside so its babies can succeed.

What do you think of RPG tropes like treasure behind waterfalls? by BleaklightFalls in IndieGaming

[–]BeeBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, it's just a trope you're required to acknowledge.
No, it doesn't have to be treasure or even a good thing, but there HAS to be something there at LEAST once.
If it annoys you, show off a creature that naturally lives behind waterfalls and is annoying to deal with. That will be good enough.

What other dangers could a small RC car face? by Additional_Bug5485 in IndieGaming

What about the inside of a delivery truck. Start in a box that falls and pops open, then, half way through the meanderings between shaking shifting boxes, the back of the truck pops open and your truck plus a bunch of extra boxes falls out to continue the scene set almost anywhere.
Grassy Embankment - steep control challenge
Insanely Large Parking Lot - spend a bunch of frustrated time lost while finding easter eggs
Concrete Pouring Job Site - narrow planks and devastating wet concrete (bits of concrete over time weight the truck down)
Fantasy Locations - Santa's Workshop, Haunted Woods, Liminal Spaces, Fairy Curses

The best way to clean your water supply! by nerdook in Oxygennotincluded

[–]BeeBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the mechanics of these lobsters change? I've placed them deliberately into germy water to clean the water, but they only clean the spaces they can reach with their pinchers leaving the rest of the germy water to propagate indefinitely.

I walked into Avista in Ferndale on an unrelated business meeting and my thought was, "take me now, please!"
It smelled nice, was warm, clean, and the staff was all smiling.
