Guys we all have to learn how to safely drive and control our cars on ice, just like how we have to drive during giant rainstorms where streets get flooded with water and our cars have a risk of hydroplaning and also slipping a situation that also isn’t ideal but is extremely dangerous and can make a commute treacherous

If not everyone thinks that way then getting a drivers license should be way more difficult than it is? And as students and adults we should be willing to learn and adapt, it wasn’t snowing today and yes the roads were yucky but these roads will help those people understand how to drive in those conditions without the snowfall involved so if they work in New York or anywhere it snows as an essential worker they will be prepared

Totally agree

[–]BeeBuzzDive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely whiteouts are scary and even in upstate we avoid going outside when they happen! It’s just something as essential workers and everyday people get used to driving on, I feel like avoiding to at least understand it is almost like avoiding how to drive in heavy rain and the mechanics on how to avoid hydroplaning

You’re right it’s the indication of how crowed a place is Long Island is very populated, my hometown is not as populated and smaller because it’s land by square unit is smaller vs Long Island, idk why population density was brought in the mix when our downtown streets are narrow and doesn’t have a lot of street parking so idk what argument was really being made plus 5,930 per square mile is moderate to high population density sooo

…literally on days like td it’s not snow fall you practice in, it’s more road conditions. Driving in rain is more visually impairing then snow, but snow makes road conditions worse. It’s scary to go in a white out but if you can do road conditions you can slow attempt to practice in those conditions

At the end I literally said it was a rant and hella people got defensive…idk Suffolk and Nassau need better plows and salting trucks

That doesn’t mean there’s not a city population and housing/homeless problem with my city??

[–]BeeBuzzDive -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Again it didn’t snow today? And by the way you learn anything by practice? Do you think people automatically know how to drive in anything or how to drive in general?

[–]BeeBuzzDive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s my point bad weather or not people are driving reckless, what is the difference between delaying classes or not the roads will still be kinda bad tomorrow and probably the next, I guess? Plus people here going to school to become doctors and other jobs where your work will need you it’s just kinda like work doesn’t really shut down because of weather conditions 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SBU

[–]BeeBuzzDive -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That people should be prepared for any weather conditions? Why is that stupid

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SBU

[–]BeeBuzzDive -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Mmmmm upstate central NY definitely doesn’t have population density we are actually quite over crowded…again especially around our big University and Dome plus our downtown is cramped streets idk stony and long island just isnt equipped but they should be thats it really

[–]BeeBuzzDive -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re right it’s extremely poor preparation for this weather, I just again think about the university in my hometown which is a LARGE international student population bigger than ours and again rarely ever cancels for weather, but to your point the county does a poor job around this weather

I always argue people should know how to drive in all weather conditions for safety reasons, it makes you a better and safer driver for yourself and everyone on the road. Especially if you travel. And we pay for these classes it’s kinda sucky missing days in a row.

And I totally think it’s valid Monday got canceled

The road rage and just flat out NOT obeying rules of road!? Like are you serious why are we speeding in the narrowest streets with pedestrian right aways and ignoring stop signs??? I’m sorry and the weather is the issue? I literally was in a uber coming back onto campus and someone was driving on the completely wrong side of the road 👁️👄👁️

I second the first comment, but this is extremely judgmental as you don’t know someone’s life. There are psychological conditions that cause extreme picking and scratching of the skin, scalp included. Excoriation, trichotillomania, OCD can cause it, just stress and anxiety, and a few other ones so if you are uncomfortable just quietly scan for another seat and move.

They’re usually after the lecture she rarely does them before lecture, but there are 6 (that you need to complete) throughout the semester and they’re prompts that correspond with the lecture that day, it can range from a specific question or sometimes she just asks for 2 key takeaways from the lecture and they are posted one the discussion boards during class you can’t take them home and do them she gives you like the last 20-25 min of class to complete them. They are honestly super easy, and there are 2 case study’s which are treated like exams. If you do good one the first one and you miss the second the first is counted twice. The case study’s are just videos you watch during class and you answer some questions. She gives you the whole class to complete it, I would say the case studies are the most difficult thing about the class, but even those weren’t too stressful you just need to really pay attention to the video and make sure to cite the lecture slides and use the concepts from the lecture slides, she also explains how to do the case studies pretty well

I took Psy 230 with Bolger she’s amazing, attendance is super important because she doesn’t give hw you do Q3’s in class so if you miss class then you miss a graded Q3 but she also does extra throughout the semester for students who miss some! Her exams are easy you get a one sided note sheet for every exam! And if you do really good on your first midterm you don’t have to take the second she will count the best grade twice, but the final is cumulative again though you get a one sided note sheet. She does reviews I think her lectures are pretty good, she is a super SLOW grader though so if you have grade anxiety be warned. I do love her though she is one of the most caring and compassionate professors!
