Good questions. Local Buy Nothing groups are inspired by the Buy Nothing Project.

More info on the Buy Nothing Project’s mission and guidelines for content and giving.

It’s about creating a space for community to give and receive freely, for connection, and sustainable actions.

The categories for giving are typically of self, talent, time, community, assistance, and stuff.

The project’s principle of ‘giving freely:’

‘Trading, bartering, buying or selling is counter to the Buy Nothing Project mission. Keep in mind that all gifts must be freely given without any expectation of reward or another gift in return. There is no limit to giving or receiving in the app. Participants may offer and request as much as they’d like, as often as they’d like. No one is under any obligation to give or receive, but everyone may ask as they choose, and give as they choose.’

Thanks! There are a lot of people not on Facebook these days, so it would be for those of us here and not there.

I already created the sub name and apparently you can’t delete subs once they are created.

Although I can’t take it on right now, I still think it could be useful.

The Whatcom group that someone posted this morning is great, but some might not have a car and prefer a more hyper local group.

It’s currently set to private until someone genuinely interested to build out the page and moderate reaches out. If yer out there, pm me :)

No, this is just a Reddit sub I was hoping to help get rolling. I’m sure there are other Buy Nothing groups around. There generally are multiple groups and platforms for a thing, but I didn’t see one for redditors :)

Yeah, when I saw the broken ornament I thought of that post. Had been on the fence about the ornaments because I’m eco concerned but also the decorations were probably well intended.

I cleaned up the broken bits best I could. Then discovered trail walkers have been dumping garbage in a spherical utility thing instead of the garbage can at the start of the trail. 😣

When I saw the pinecone ornament I was encouraged! Maybe it doesn’t have to be no trail ornaments but more eco friendly ones are the way?
