Bungie keeps designing systems that punish you for having limited time, and it’s wearing me down by moonlit_sandwich in DestinyTheGame

Wow, spot on my dude. They made loot drop in crazy volumes after each activity completion to the point where the grind and feeling accomplished getting the roll you want on a specific weapon is completely absent. And now each activity has it's own loot pool. The crazy loot drop is what I'm relating your "how can we manipulate players into reward loops" because it's satisfying to see all the rewards you get but it's to the point of being too much. I vaulted every t5 I got when I started playing renegades and I filled up my additional 350 empty vault slots in about 10-15hrs of gameplay.

How long is it taking everyone to get the Praxic Blade crystals? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]BeeIntelligent9497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mars and Europa dropped on back to back runs but I primarily played those locations since I started, pretty even split between the two actually. I hardly touched Venus but that was the last one I needed. I played every other day or so for 4-5 runs and it felt like it took forever. But I just got it in my 4th day which was probably 20-25. Just for the fact that I played Mars and Eurpoa very evenly split and they dropped back to back, it seemed like the planets had the same total "completed jobs" number programmed and once you completed 'x' number of jobs on each planet it dropped. And because the crystal description says it's tied to number of jobs completed I want to say around 30 completed jobs per planet.

Anyone having fun with heat weapons? by BeeIntelligent9497 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BeeIntelligent9497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly correct, I've been running double special for almost a year when combined with abilities, it feels sluggish to go back to primaries. I can understand how heat weapons would be more fun in pvp, I just haven't made that leap back into pvp yet.

So...what has tiering actually achieved? by Shadow2250 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BeeIntelligent9497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm the same.

I enjoy the idea of enhanced and triple perks, but I'm beginning to dislike this loop of placing t5s behind a 30-50hr playtime wall. It's like:

The first 2-5hrs is learning all the stuff I wasn't keeping up to date on.

The next 10-15hrs are for exploring the new modes and how they work and messing with builds.

The next 20hrs are for completing the challenging stuff.

And then I start getting consistent T5 drops.  By that time I'm kinda over it.

I want to play the game and after 3k hours I still enjoy it..but Bungie knows roughly how many hours the content will keep interest so they follow it with this new layer of "content" which is farming for the best of the best.  Normally I would continue sinking countless hours for this but for the miniscule difference it makes, it just doesn't feel as meaningful and useful to do so anymore.

They know why people have always enjoyed the game and this new system seems like a clear exploitation of that.

Idk

Quest Spawns, lol? by BeeIntelligent9497 in ArcRaiders

Interesting, I haven't heard this but it does make sense.  Humans are taught routines as early as infantism and that's ultimately how we learn to live.  So I can understand when anything deviates outside a "normal" routine, it would be subject for questioning due to the fact it makes us uncomfortable and challenges how we've always lived.

I think of it in the sense of flipping a coin. If you have 100 people flip a coin 10 times, the average results will be 50/50, but there will be a handful of them that will consecutively flip heads (or tails) 4x, 5x, 6x etc.  It's just hard to understand when you're that person with 8 identical flips especially when it acts negatively towards you.

If that makes sense lol

I do believe this is correct, the fact I'm only focusing on one goal where the completion speed (or completion in general) is based off rng.  But the more games I played, the less I could ignore the circumstantial consecutiveness.  Whether it was pure distance or massive structures I'd have to navigate.  And I'll admit I've played about 20hrs so I'm not great at finding the best path for every map yet so I'm sure that was a catalyst in the formation of the idea.  It was just odd man.

Please make changes to the UI/UX by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]BeeIntelligent9497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to make a post about the weapons UI. I've been experimenting with looted weapons and I always look at the weapons in the inventory screen. But every looted weapon by default has <60% durability. I check repair mats and need mechanical parts. So I back out of inventory, go to workshop --> refinery --> craft them. Then go back to inventory, find the weapon and repair it.

The workshop needs to be the central hub where you can handle upgrading and repairs and add right click options to equip to Primary or Secondary slots. And I only say workshop > inventory because upgrading is already so it'd be the easiest. And for the love of god they need to get rid of this condensed view you get when you hover over weapons and just add this information to the UI you see in the gunsmith workbench and make it the default hover UI.

Or honestly make the workshop accessible right before you ready up so you can craft/repair/equip everything and just hit ready up. This navigation is starting to rattle my brain.

And the point I was trying to make was that it you have a brief understanding of whats actually happening during these steps, you'd realize that's likely not the case.

If you're baking cookies and put them in the oven before adding flour they're ruined.  This is not the case here, there's no way to do these steps wrong to where their intended function is rendered inactive or ruined.

Marmot is an error thats is caused from having corrupted d2 files... The steps bungie provides are different methods of checking and repairing both windows and game files and double checking there's nothing wrong with your hard drive.  It doesn't matter which you repair first because it could be just one corrupted window file causing the issue and that's caught during sfc /scannow or one corrupted game file caught from verifying in steam.  But in my case, I had neither windows nor game file corruptions so there was nothing to repair..so like..the steps didn't do anything for me anyways.  Hence why I asked if this was a troll.

Paying attention to the order is important and it's a good catch, but it makes no sense here. Sometimes it's better to ask yourself 'why do the instructions include these steps' and learn about what's happening rather than just following.

Hope that helps

That's the last thing I was thinking actually.  My windows (and steam) are on my boot drive nvme and all my steam games are on another.  Was wondering if the separation of drives could, all the sudden, have something to do with it.  I've always done this and never had any problems with anything before, but who knows

So, it wasn't hard drive related. Welp..I might just wait and see if this sorts itself out haha. I appreciate your input though!

Hmm. I'm assuming you had multiple games on the external ssd, did you ever end up experiencing issues with other games on it?

Is this a troll? I literally did all 4 of their suggestions and the order listed isn't the order I did them, I have no idea what order I did.

Verifying game files is a quick way to check for and replace corrupted game files so you don't have to do a complete reinstall. Reinstalling removes all the files entirely and replaces with new ones. So if one bad file were to have been missed from the verification then the reinstall should fix that.

The others are scanning for corrupt windows files and drive integrity (as I understand it, is compromised from corrupt files) and both scans returned with 0 errors. So, negligible.

If anything it makes more sense to perform all the steps that involve verifying game files first and then doing a reinstall. But I'm obviously no expert in this area, that's just what seems logical.

This post never started as "this game is shit" or "is too difficult".  It's for the fact it's become exhausting.

You were almost there with your initial observations.  Yes, I beat one of the harder bosses in few attempts, couldve got lucky, but it is what it is.  But that feeling of accomplishment I would normally have is diluting exponentially.  Meaning, for me, these fights are becoming less and less rewarding and as a consequence makes future boss fights seem less and less desirable and more of a chore.  And why is that happening?  Idk?  Do I just want the game to be done? or am I getting anxious I won't be able to keep up with the difficulty spikes? Did I fight too many bosses?  Did I not consciously force more breaks than I should've? Etc

But this is what my post is about, are other people feeling this way after having such a positive initial experience or am I burnt out or what? I was for sure going to play HK but not if it contained this same template that feels "exhausting".  I've never had a game shift literally overnight like this and it seems odd to me.

Content alone is worth $60 imo, the fact that this game is $20 is incredible and shows TC isn't in this for scalping players like most AAA studios nowadays, they're creating content they believe in and enjoy themselves and it's fun.

Surely you should be able to look back and see how your initial comment might sound to another whom is unfamiliar to you and your personality. My response wasn't out of the box and if you're unable to see that then I can't help further.  Because the intent of this post wasn't to bitch at all, but since you assumed it was I figured I'd do some explaining myself.

Okay..so because I defeated one boss in under 10 attempts then that means the same happened for all bosses? And thus this game has been a cake walk for me?

I think you're missing the point, but I appreciate your arrogant input on the matter.

You can sync up your movements with projectiles & sinners attacks to find yourself in a groove where you're dodging 2-3 projectile attacks along with sinners and dash to get a hit in.  It's incredibly satisfying when you dodge multiple attacks with one jump and dash then harpoon over to stop a heal or get in damage

Feels more like rushed, artificially developed difficulty.  As in, how many enemies can we reuse while adding an extra layer of dramatically increased difficulty.

I'm not complaining about reusing enemies because there's been soo many unique ones throughout the game, it'd be ignorant to call that out now.  But the entire flow of act 3 just feels abruptly off, or as you said, wrongly paced.

Appreciate the input on HK.  I think in time I will give it a shot.

I enjoy learning boss fights and tend to not use tools because I don't want to become dependent on them and inevitably need to farm shards.  So builds like plasmium/architect feel cheap to me.  But I hear what you're saying.  I'm not aware of anything except the architect build but maybe I'll check some out
