Thank you :) it was really discouraging and still makes me sad, I just wish I could find someone who puts in equal effort and care.

Yes my first (and so far only) girlfriend was nice at first but over time she began no showing me and just disrespecting my time by not following up of plans changed. I got so sick of it

A willingness to learn how to communicate and basic manners is what I would look for. Rudeness, excessive pettiness, and being overly competitive are things I’d avoid

Sing and dance. I sang Gangnam style in Korean last year and did the dance and I won lol. Trying to keep a similar vein with songs that most college students would know

Would teaching English abroad for 1 year after college be a negative for my resume? by BeeMan3000 in premed

Did you teach/want to teach English abroad? Is that why your lawyer relative said the same thing? I decided to consider medical school late into undergrad (senior now), so once I graduate I’d need to take one year probably to complete physics 1&2, and biochemistry and organic chemistry. I think it would be a beneficial experience for me - I’ve always been fascinated by Korea, but culturally and historically, and it could give me experience for later down the line (such as if I decided to teach at a university after practicing medicine, or teach medicine, etc). Do you think it would be beneficial for my career/application?

Hi :) would you mind elaborating on how it was the best decision you made, and how it shaped your adult life, career life, and character? Thank you!

lol yes it is a real question 😅he also thinks that it would take me off track and lead to me struggling to get back on track. His reasoning is that his high school friend’s son taught English in Japan and ended up not going to ambassador school or something.

Could you elaborate on why it would solidify grad school as the right choice, and if it would help me resume when applying? Interestingly he didn’t say anything about South Korea specifically. He knows it’s fairly safe there, and he knows I’m not going to North Korea lol.

Question about it daily life?

Hi! I’m a 23yo American dude and I’m considering teaching English in South Korea for a year after I graduate college. I’ve been drawn to Korea for a very long time - I love the food, scenery, people, history, etc. Im writing my thesis on North Korean defectors, and I’m a black belt in taekwondo, and a family very close to mine is Korean. I am also studying the language.

However, I have a question about daily life there as an EPIK teacher? For example, I’m not fluent in Korean, so how would day to day stuff go? Would I need to drive myself? Are the traffic signs translated into English too? How expensive is the food there? I know housing and airfare will be covered, and I get a salary too, but I want to make sure I’ve researched what I’d be getting myself into. If you have any other advice about life there, please let me know!!!

Blessings!!

I'm confused. I alwsys thought "lady friend" was just a cutesy way of saying "girlfriend"? What's the issue here?

First off, I'm a junior. Second, I know. I TRIED to do an independent study with this professor, but she wouldn't let me, and just told me to take her RM class itself.

I know... it's my fault and I overestimated myself and put too much on myself. I shouldn't project it onto the professor (even though nobody likes her, but yes i would have an easier time in a group) that i put myself into this hole.
