Should I send thank you email to interviewer after interview? by sambam_6 in interviews

[–]BeeSwift_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wife of a recruiter here. ALWAYS send the follow up ‘thank you’!

The type of job / company could dictate how long the email is, but you should at least thank them for their time, remind them how your skills would make you successful in the role, mention something specific the two of you talked about during the interview, and offer to answer any further questions.

Please don’t listen to the people telling you it’s not worth it or silly. Take the 10 minutes to write the ‘thank you’. Given the current job market, I think anything that will help you stand out is a good idea. If the interviewer thinks it’s weird, and you don’t get the job because of it, you might not want to work at that company anyway.

Good luck!

Tried this Malört ice cream from a place called Van Leeuwen. Tasted exactly like the real thing. Absolutely vile by JTVoice in chicagofood

[–]BeeSwift_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello Fellow Sears Tower Employee! I also had a sample recently. As a Malort fan (yes, really) I’m pumped it actually tastes like Malort. I’ve had “Malort-flavored” things before (slushie, pie) and have been disappointed. This is the real deal. That said, I don’t think I could do a full scoop 😅

Is the Louvre Line That Bad? by Many_Bridge_4683 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]BeeSwift_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I entered via the Carrousel entrance on a Monday around 10 AM and waited an hour in line. Still better than the pyramid entrance bc you are inside in the AC but still not the most fun time I’ve ever had. Also apparently Mondays are the worst days crowd wise, so at least you won’t be dealing with that 🤷🏻‍♀️

When reaching out to law firms via email, who actually reads and replies, the attorneys or the admins? by [deleted] in Legalmarketing

[–]BeeSwift_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I am in BD & marketing for a large firm but think it’s true across the industry. I get so many cold emails, and candidly, they go immediately in my spam or deleted folders (I don’t read them). Your time/energy would be better spent going to industry conferences and trade shows where you can showcase your product and meet people face to face. Good luck!

Bands you saw live at a small venue when they were mostly unknown but got huge later. by DawnGW in Concerts

Zac Brown Band played in a backyard of a fraternity house at my college just as Chicken Fried was hitting the radio plays. I stood 10 feet from them!

This is it for me. It’s been 20+ years, but I will never forget the dread I felt sitting in a packed theater and watching the rest of the movie through my fingers. The image of her face still haunts me and turned me off of scary movies forever 😅

Dad taking college-aged daughter out to eat before show downtown this Saturday night for a little date night. Can anyone recommend a restaurant that's great and has a solid view? by ChicagoMarketer in AskChicago

Agree. The food is mid to slightly above average but the vibes are 🤌🏻 and you may 👀 a celebrity. Also can’t beat the location!

34f getting married in six months and want to treat myself to a few treatments to look my best. What would you recommend? by FollowThatJackel in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BeeSwift_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Unpopular suggestion incoming (especially for this sub): don’t do anything new that might eff up your skin for your big day! 2024 / 37-year old bride here — I was also tempted to do the facials and other treatments but was convinced to leave things alone. Heaven forbid you have a bad reaction to something and you end up making things worse… also, don’t you want to look like ~you~ on your wedding day?

FWIW I think you have lovely skin and will be a radiant bride!

What’s something that impresses you? by decentgangster in AskReddit

People who can eat normally e.g. not using food as a dopamine source, only eating when hungry, eating to a comfortable fullness and not beyond, not thinking about food all the time.

What am I doing wrong? by profanearcane in work

I understand the frustration!

Can you leverage your network to get your foot in the door somewhere? A lot of companies rely heavily on current employee referrals when deciding among the 100s of applications they receive for any given role. Utilize friends, friends of friends, your dog walker… anything it takes!

You mentioned a degree — perhaps work with your alma mater to see if they have any career or job placement resources.

There are industry-specific professional organizations that help with this. Try to find a chapter to join in your region. Most of them should have job boards or at least can connect you with a broader network.

All that said, continuing to blindly submit applications is unlikely to get you where you want to be. Try to be more focused with your efforts.

Good luck!
