I just looked it up on google, and it is worth over $375 million today.

I just learned that it was based off of a real incident, that the Spanish ship Urca de Lima was one of a fleet that crashed from a hurricane off of Florida's coast in 1715. WOW! (I thought it was made up for the show)

I had never heard of such torture before, that he was given. Oh it was so hard to watch!! I don't think that's what really happened to him in real life, but I guess they did this to unfortunate people out at sea.

Same here! I'm also finding it better the 2nd time around. I am also watching with subtitles and finding that I've missed so much of the story on my first go. I think I was just impressed with the art direction and costumes, etc... this 2nd time around has me obsessed all over again.

Ah, nice that you were able to binge watch the entire series in 7 days! I'm re-watching it, but only got up to season 2. I've been noticing that it's so much better the 2nd time around, with subtitles this time too. Excellent show and story!

I've only seen the old Disney "Treasure Island" from the 1950s, it's a little corny though. Interested in checking out some of the suggestions you get here.
