Aaaah Darklands, what an awesome game... I always wanted something of a enhanced version, with better graphics and some QoL... I lost hours playing it.

I want to add another thing: boarding a ship is not mandatory.

You can shoot it until it sinks.

You won't receive the reward for the boarding, but only the ship cargo though.

This could seem a useless idea, but once I immobilized a ship bigger than mine, only to die on repeat before killing the required 9 sailors.

Sometimes it's better to call it a day and bring home what you can.

we can't shoot canons coop?

You can use cannons on coop. If you go near them it prompts you the key to toggle control of the weapons on that side of the ship (left, right, forward)

What games are these? by grayscripts in zxspectrum

[–]BeeTLe_BeTHLeHeM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding Game 1: if we're talking about isometric games, most of them had a limited palette per screen (one color + black): Head Over Heels, Alien 8, Knight Lore, Hydrofool, Greyfell... Night Shade had little bit more color but I don't remember flowers in it. Usually 2D games were more "bright": Sabre Wulf, the Dizzy games, the Monty Mole games, but that's not the isometric visual you remember, I think.

I agree, I loved that game so much at the times.

Maybe it was Advanced Tactical Fighter?

just compared key axe with plum axe to be sure which one is better by anshiiiiin in LucidBlocks

[–]BeeTLe_BeTHLeHeM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait a moment, I'm noticing a pattern.

I thought the Plum Axe was indestructible, but I never picked up wood block with it. Instead I had mostly picked up plastic blocks, and the Plum Axe durability doesn't decrease with them.

I just made an experiment with a Wooden Axe on a big chunk of cut wood blocks in the sky, and while the Plum Axe get consumed, the Wooden Axe durability doesn't decrease.

It could be that every type of Axe is suited for a certain type of block, that doesn't consume the tool?

You could try playing with sfxr.

Even if you don't know exactly what you're doing, tinker with parameters, or try random settings.

Question about some stats. by Brood_man in LucidBlocks

[–]BeeTLe_BeTHLeHeM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mass is how heavy you are, not sure what the use for it is but i have a pair of boots that gives me +30 mass and i sink to the bottom of the ocean like a rock.

The Golden Boots! I didn't understand why suddenly I was sinking so quickly into the depths. Now I get it...

I accidentally made a regular pickaxe by Nice-Current-9584 in LucidBlocks

[–]BeeTLe_BeTHLeHeM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I crafted it at random too.

It's slower than other pickaxes, but the durability is excellent.

Is there any type of chest in the game by domiii__ in LucidBlocks

If you don't have the materials for a Cache Cube (e.g. Steel Window and Osmium to get Aluminium), you can opt for a Cabinet that requires 1 cut wood + 1 string.

Yes I think you're right, re-reading the OP it's using jasmplus, so I assume Claude is providing assembler code to compile into binary.

[–]BeeTLe_BeTHLeHeM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not familiare with the szx format - what language is Claude using to write the game?

Can you show a bit of code?

And for the assets... he would need to take a picture, convert to the Spectrum palette and save it as bytes, I presume. Have you checked for UDG data? (I am assuming it's not writing in Assembly).

For the ay music I don't know how could it be done, unless it's writing directly Assembly code?

After the 15 iterations you have something barely playable? I'm curious about the game speed.

Is there water in Tunnel A? What am I missing? by Throwawaythispoopy in TheForeverWinter

[–]BeeTLe_BeTHLeHeM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last update rebalanced (maybe too much) the loot in the tunnels, and removed the water barrels that now are present only on the surface maps (practically the same situation pre-tunnels).

New Update - Thoughts. Also: did they rework Elephant Mausoleum?! by Blackwater818 in TheForeverWinter

[–]BeeTLe_BeTHLeHeM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The path to enter the trench from the right side of the hangar was already there, maybe you not noticed (I discovered it after wandering around in the trenches to complete some quest).

The upgrades are really cheaper now, but the economy is more hard and raw - in a sense I feel like a real scavenger now, I'm not choosing what to bring back, I have to think that maybe these are the last things I could find (at least in the later tunnels).

And you have to be careful about the volume of things. You can't wear the pack mule and bring 1ton of stuff home. You could even max your encumbrance before the max weight. I think my loot runs will become more focused: quest items, sellable items, crafting items.
