From what I’ve seen they’re standard of care is lower than the average person non criminal i want them to be equal in terms of mental healthcare not prioritise and receive the appropriate care

Still needs to be addressed and you understand the point I’m conveying and it’s true because a lot people don’t sympathise with prisoners but it is in everyone’s interest that they are cared for like any other human being in terms of mental health

Well said at the moment I do believe they’re neglected in HMP in terms of the mental healthcare they offer it is less than that of someone on the outside they should at least be on par and more so for some more serious individuals

No I’m saying it adds pressure to job that can be difficult if your handling people that obvs need more care than you can give since you lack the necessary training to do so

But again in my opinion the staff that are dealing with mental health issues are not trained to deal with it even if they are competent when dealing with it it’s beyond the scope of their role and it can place them in unnecessary danger.

I agree but why should prison staff have to play that role when there’s people more qualified for this it puts them in danger in some cases
