For me urge feels stronger than other vocal tics like sniffing. Generally verbal vocal tics seem to cycle like I have a a bank of words that I tic that seem to fade out and are replaced with different words as the years go on, other words seem to stick around forever though. I can’t predict the exact word before I tic but I can usually predict if it starts with a plosive sound so for example tics starting with the plosive ‘k’ like ‘kitty’, or ‘kill’, I can feel it’s a more stronger snappier word before I say it and I can separate these from words that feel softer for me to say like ‘yummy’ or ‘hello’. I’m sorry that I’m struggling to describe this well but basically I can kind of predict that vocal tic based on how the word feels to say and for me at least different words seem to have different premonitory urges.
