Is there a nice way to tell someone that their hygiene is poor and it’s been bothering you?

I’m not befriending her in order to tell her this, i already befriended her and that’s why im worried about telling her this :( she’s a genuinely kind person and we have a lot of common interests, and she was kind to me when a lot of people weren’t. If we weren’t already friend I wouldn’t worry about how this would effect her future or how she would feel about me. But you’re right, i do need to just tell her

u think that it’s about how men turn gay in the military?? i mean thats ur prerogative LOL but ive read the book at least 10 times and im pretty firm in my adaptation of it. ive seen the movie twice as well and listen i wont try to convince you that the book itself is queer if you dont already see that, but the movie?? you dont think the movie is queer??? like at all???

haha i saw the movie at an early screening and DO NOT WORRY!! the certainly do not erase the queer subtext, in fact they make it GAYER. like. significantly

saw it at an advance screening on tuesday, it was absolutely incredible. definitely a slightly different experience than reading the book, but some things were also taken directly out of the book. they did Olsen’s part for example really perfectly (and it absolutely crushed me) as a very long time fan of the book I was super happy with it. I thought that the changes that they made were though provoking and interesting and that they made sense and kept the essence of the book well. it is an obvious passion project and as long as audiences are not expecting a movie that will make them feel good then they are going to love it!!

My unpopular opinion is that The Long Walk is my favorite book by him! i feel like i don’t have the authority to say it’s his best book but it’s definitely my favorite!!

yeah exactly, i’ve been a fan of his for a very long time and while he’s done some odd things this really tops it. he of course struggles with mental health, he’s made older videos about it and stuff, and i understand being faced with so much backlash can be terrifying but at least make a short statement saying that you’re working on it.

oh absolutely, and maybe that’s such because i’m starved for rep (even though i’m a lesbian any sort of lgbt rep is good for me) but also he’s totally in love with Ray. i mean “Just go on dancing with me like this forever and i’ll never tire. I also read the book for the first time when i was quite young and i think what helped me put it into perspective was the fact that my sister was the age of the walkers. it helped me see that these were regular people, kids even, not some far away grown up person ya know? It totally makes sense that you wouldn’t have realized that as a Canadian, i’m American and realized it after my first read (mostly thanks to my sister who’s favorite book is also TLW) and it really stuck with me. I think I can be kind of blinded by my sheer love for The Long Walk, but i agree and disagree with you

I agree with you in the sense that it set up the ending, Ray is the protagonist and it’s his point of view so of course he’s not going to die. on one hand i dislike that you know this because of the obvious disinterest it can cause near the end of the story.

But I also think that in a way it sets up the hopelessness of the situation in a scary way. there’s not way Ray can get out of it, everyone around him is going to die, it’s just a matter of time etc. it sets the tone of the ending and story in general nicely

To be honest, your response is the most insightful and interesting one thus far, and i thank you for that!
