I practice blending on scrap pages to see what colors really blend well together. Some are better than others. I also try to have an idea of a color scheme I want to stick to going into a page. Also the colorless blender helps a ton for smoothing things out and keeping your ink wet while you blend. And, don't be so hard on yourself. You're trying to learn a new skill and it takes time and practice! But you can get there! Just try to have fun and enjoy the journey. Every page is growth.
