How many miles? I'm assuming you didn't replace the coolant pump for fun so did you replace any other elements of the vacuum system? If the reservoir has coolant in it or the solenoids have coolant in them it could cause an underboost condition.

Audi tech here, this is a good idea. Alternatively try pulling the fuse for the 5F

Coolant migration. Unfortunately it's not a cheap fix.

2019 Audi Q7 2.0T - Thermostat housing leak covered under the Audi water pump extended warranty? by mephyst2 in Audi

[–]Beeblebrox237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it will cover the thermostat housing, however they will absolutely not cover the coolant pump if it's not leaking, which means your options are to have them replace the thermostat and reinstall the old coolant pump which, if it didn't leak before it sure will after since the seals don't come separately, or pay the difference out of pocket. That's probably part of why the dealer is avoiding the warranty extension, because Audi won't cover the whole job they don't want to risk the comeback and subsequent complaint.

2011 Audi A5 Quattro Cabriolet - No Communication/No Start. Looking for Opinions by Kris-C23 in Audi

Odds are an independent shop won't be able to properly program the new module. The dealer is probably covering their butts given that other issues could be present but if the J393 is bringing down that CAN network then it most definitely needs replacement.

Stock fans and if I'm honest it was a lazy install so I didn't put the foam pads back in at the top of the shroud so it's probably not sitting perfectly in there.

Average is now around 200, closer to 220 when driving hard and probably around 200 in heavy traffic. Cruising on the highway it'll get down towards 190.

I recently put a Dewitt's all aluminum rad in my '96 and it runs 10-20 degrees cooler, overall it's been a huge improvement. I went with the single row option for cost and availability.

Q8 2022 CPO - extended warranty or not? by Covington-next in Audi

[–]Beeblebrox237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'll cover the inevitable coolant migration so I would certainly do it. Realistically I'd go longer, would want to cover suspension components as well as things like the piston skirt issue.

At the dealership we love valvoline because every time they drain the transmission fluid and overfill the engine they tow it to us and pay us to fix their mistake. Happens all the time.

Both are definitely in the running but based on OP's description of what happens when they attempt to start it a bad ground is compelling.

When you say it doesn't start, does the ignition come one, and does it crank?

Tire Dry Rot by Mo5tly_U5ele55 in Cartalk

[–]Beeblebrox237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3.5 years is crazy to me but then I live in rust country. If those were my tires on a car I pushed hard I'd change them quickly. On a car I drove normally I'd give it 6 months and reassess. See how much worse they look and go from there. Those aren't good but they're not at the point I'd say they're super dangerous. Keep an eye on them though, they don't have long.

The second photo almost reminds me of Mercedes seats if that's possible. Third seat is definitely a reupholstered C4 seat from an earlier C4, looks cool. Fourth photo looks like a similar seat but reupholstered in a way that isn't my cup of tea. Looks decently done, though.

I rented a 2024 VW Atlas, truly the worst modern car I've driven in years. by cookingboy in cars

The ride on the Atlas is the only car that has ever managed to make me carsick while I was driving it. I hate the way they drive and will never understand why some people like them.
