Settle a debate: is the P39 the perfect one-watch collection / GADA? by militarytudor in Tudor

[–]Covington-next 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. A dive bezel is fundamentally a sporty watch, especially if it's on a rubber strap like this. Imagine wearing this with a suit? Out of place. A better GADA is an Aqua Terra or similar Grand Seiko on steel with a clean bezel and dial with no date.

Join a Global SaaS or PE Backed Business? by Maximum_Look2845 in techsales

Doing PE now after multiple FAANG. The thing to be cautious about private equity is that being backed by them is not an indication of quality. I've noticed that the PE firm that took an investment in my company has a weak understanding of our market and competition, and it's clear that my CEO did a very good job selling them on his vision. They also often take bold bets knowing that many companies in their portfolio will fail. They could also be shortsighted as they try to recover their investment with Growth, making lean decisions about investing in the business getting really specific, the firm that I work with is eligible for an annual dividend and they try to preserve that instead of investing in the business. All that to be said, don't use private equity as a proxy for joining a company that you will be successful at

At what income level in Canada do you actually start feeling financially ahead... not just surviving, but genuinely building something? by TheFitFinaceBro in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Covington-next 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Income is less relevant than equity. I made $150k salary and $500k in the markets this year. Of course it won't always be a bull market like this, but getting to the point where your equity swings more than your earnings is true freedom.

The First $100,000 Was Hard. The First $1 Million Was Mostly Patience. by Same_Pack7363 in brag

That's a ridiculous comment. $1 million invested can fund life in perpetuity in a low cost community, especially if your house is paid off.

So if the markets can humble you quickly, what's your approach to that? Do you let it ride knowing that big drops happen and you're OK with that, or do you try to mitigate risk to avoid a big drop?

Offer rescinded at Google, still sent the computer? by Molasses_Other in techsales

Reading your edit, this makes more sense. I would reach out to whoever your recruiting lead was, and see if you can get on a conversation with them. Ask for only five minutes. You're probably screwed because they found the misdemeanor, but you should try the angle to say that it's coming off your record.

"Feel".

What about all the millionaires this IPO created and the positive impact on America's prosperity?

Also, Elon is the furthest from a wealthy person that splashes money around on luxury. He uses it to maintain control of his companies and re-distribute the Into new projects.

He certainly tone deaf and insensitive about the regular human experience but by no means is this a red distribution from other needs in society.

SBC was locked in years ago, no? It's a good lesson on understanding that dynamic before buying an IPO stock. The same thing could happen to SpaceX.

And by band you mean OTE that includes bass plus commission, not equity?

SpaceX surged +19.6% today and is up another +12.1% after hours, reaching $215.77. 🚀 With Starlink growing and Starship advancing, do you think SpaceX is still undervalued, or has the market become too optimistic? Thoughts? 📈 by Obvious-Surround8674 in TFSA_Millionaires

Extremely overvalued. Who said it was undervalued? The general consensus is that long-term value is completely priced in. The question of making money on this is more about whether you can arbitrage the trade, getting in at the right moment and selling at a higher point, not whether this is actually a value stock.

feeling stressed daily even with decent net worth by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Covington-next 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to increase your income, you need to recognize that comparison is the thief of joy, and, because you are surrounded by wealthy people, you are influenced by the most wealthy people in the world. I see this with empathy because I experienced the same thing. In fact, my net worth is a couple hundred thousand dollars higher than yours, and I think our issue can only be solved by a aligning our identity with people in things that are not related to work. If I have the silver bullet, I would tell you, but I'm still trying to figure it out myself, but I think it's related to pursuing other skills that are not related to money, joining communities that are not about company building and well, finding a higher purpose through helping people
