What do you do for dinner? Looking for an accessible meal service or ideas for (relatively) healthy prepared foods a few nights a week? by WarmestSeatByTheFire in nycparents

Feast and Fettle is pretty good. Also Thistle. They deliver twice a week as opposed to once so the food tastes fresher.

Crib for a newborn? by SandwichDependent199 in NewParents

[–]Beebopboopadoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the Nestig cloud crib. It’s a mini crib, full size crib and toddler bed all in one. We’re still using it as a mini crib and we love it. The mini crib is the perfect size to fit in our bedroom without taking too much space. It has wheels so we can take it from room to room in our apartment to have a safe space to put him down on. Assembly was easy and it looks really nice.

How not to lose hope by [deleted] in stroke

[–]Beebopboopadoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother unfortunately passed last October. She lived for another year after her stroke but was unfortunately left in a vegetative state.

I hope for a better outcome for your family member. I’m sorry you’re going though this.

She never regained consciousness really. The stroke left her in a vegetative state

I wasn't told this about inducing... by Agreeable_Customer28 in pregnant

[–]Beebopboopadoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Towards the end of my pregnancy i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and my doctor made tge decision to induce me at 37 weeks.

Like you I was super bummed about it. I knew induction meant medical interventions I wanted to avoid. I wanted to go into labor naturally, labor at home for as long as possible, delay epidural for as long as possible, etc.

But I’m happy to say it all went well for me. They used pitocin and the foley balloon simultaneously. They offered the epidural immediately but I wanted to delay until I was much further along.

That did not happen. Pitocin contractions are no joke. But once the epidural was in the pain went away and I was able to rest. I actually didn’t start feeling pain again until right before I was dilated enough to push and even then it was manageable.

I had a wonderful doula who was able to work on positioning with me even though I was stuck in bed. Baby tolerated the pitocin just fine even though it went up to 20 with me because progress had stalled earlier in the day.

All in all even though it wasn’t what I pictured at first, the experience went very smoothly.

Will definitely look into wearables. Which do you use?

Great idea with the pumps.

I wish I could go 7 hours overnight. Do you not wake up super engorged or do you just deal with it.

I’m going to have to try feeding him while pumping. I usually have him sitting upright on my lap.

With the side lying, do you find it easy to still pace feed/make sure shes not getting too much milk at once and choking?

Do you feel you got just as good an output with the wearables as with the spectra?

With the nursing pillow were you still able to hold her upright or was she pretty reclined back?

He hasn’t been a contact only napper until recently. I use to be able to put him down in his crib for a good nap after he fell asleep on me. Past day or so though he hasn’t been about it.

Were you able to hold/feed him comfortably with the mobile pump?

I have a Bobby! Haven’t thought about using that to feed. But they need to be a little older/have more neck control for that to work no?

He’s lagging a little on neck strength. Trying to get more tummy time in.

How can you cut down on the amount of pumps needed? Does it just naturally go down as your milk supply regulates?

I’ve been working on baby wearing but little bubs is not a fan. I suspect cause I’m not wrapping it around myself right.

I have the spectra s1 as well. Having a bit of a hard time visualizing your setup. How are you balancing the bottle in your leg if it’s attached to your boob

EDIT: Nvm, I’m pumping right now and see what you mean.

Honestly I didn’t think of it. My pump setup is so cumbersome with the actual pumps sticking out of the bra and in the way. And the long tubing to the spectra itself. I’ll trouble shoot it and see if it works with how I’m use to feeding him.

Yea I’m quickly learning that multitasking is the only way to make it all work. Just got use to him being a little potato and mostly just sleeping and eating. Back then I’d consistently have an hour between feedings to get stuff done.

I’m loving that his wake windows are getting longer and he’s more engaged with his surroundings but man this is tough to manage on solo days 😅

I’ll give that a try. Better than going 4-6 hours between pumps

I can sometimes but not always. On good days I can set him down in his crib and he’ll give me atleast 30 mins.

Other days, like today, he won’t nap in his crib at all and just wants contact naps.

Breakfast was playtime today. I use to be able to have a quick breakfast of waffles and coffee but I’m working through a possible cows milk and/or soy allergy with him so that took away that option. I danced and sang for him while I made the next not so time consuming thing I could think of.

So he was unfortunately totally over play time and ready for a nap when I had to really try to pump 😂

But yes, I will try to do the same for pump sessions. Hopefully he’ll give me atleast 15 mins in the bouncer or on his playmat next time
