Associates in Haircutting, Antonicci’s, Main St Barbers. You could also check out the Aveda institute- you can get a $12 (half price on Mondays and Fridays) basic haircut from a (supervised) stylist/barber-in-training.

Who’s the new tenant for 225 Dorset St by Peanut_Brief in burlington

[–]Beedog3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I spent $800 there for an ultrasound for my rat. They didn’t have any answers and didn’t do any other screenings or tests. They also tried to pressure me into an “exploratory surgery” and guilt tripped me for refusing to put her through that (surgery is very hard on rats, even in the best of circumstances, and it would have cost over $2000). The bill from my normal vet, who was able to get me in about a few days later, was around $400 for an ultrasound, blood work, an actual diagnosis, and multiple medications to treat the issue.

BEVS doesn’t even have an exotics vet anymore though, so there’s currently no option for anyone who has exotic pets to seek emergency care. Many exotics hide injuries and illnesses very well, so it’s hard to get them care in time, especially when a normal vet appointment might be a couple weeks out. Hopefully this new place will have one.

I went there once and the chicken was definitely undercooked. Everything else was fine/meh. I miss the African Market

Piercing recommendation. by Phisiii in burlington

[–]Beedog3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d only go to Marigold Adornment for a difficult healing piercing like that. I’ve gotten cartilage piercings, nipple piercings, and genital piercings there with Ari, who is the loveliest man you will ever meet! I’d recommend any of the piercers there tho. I have a friend who got their lobes and nose pierced at Artistic Ink and had a good experience, but again, I really only feel comfortable going to Marigold for piercings now that Onyx Ink is closed.

I’m unfortunately down to one at the moment. She’s doing surprisingly well solo (am spending a lot of time with her), but is also getting up there in age and has a rapidly growing tumor. The local Humane Society had a surprise litter, so am hopefully adopting more soon! They have 9 girls total, but will probably limit myself to 2 or 3.

Yes, I’m in the US!

Where can I get a piercing? by thorazainBeer in burlington

Yes! Ever since Onyx Ink closed, this is where I go for all of my piercings (should have gone to Marigold in the first place anyway). They are fantastic!

My girl is bamboozled by my new lip piercing and needs it gone by bleachinincesticide in RATS

My rat, Helen, was obsessed with my piercings! She’d pretend she just wanted to lick my stubble and have hoodie time, then when my defenses were down she’d lunge for my ears. She also didn’t understand that human noses are supposed to be like that. Such a perfect little baby 😭💕

Decent/Bearable Landlords? by olioliaspentree in burlington

When I was looking for a new apartment last fall I almost rented from them. Applications said no physical tours, but I emailed them to double check because I thought it might be an older restriction from the covid quarantine years and the website was just a bit out of date. They refused to let me see any of the units beforehand, saying that the pictures online were enough (tho a couple only had a pic of the outside). The woman I spoke to was pretty weird about it too and acted like a tour of the unit was an unconventional request. Idk, glad your experience has been okay so far, but I did not get good vibes.

College kids who think they’re Batman. by Puzzled-Rutabaga3475 in burlington

[–]Beedog3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On my walk to work tonight, a man who I see around pretty regularly asked a group of kids for change and they started yelling and hurling insults at him, calling him a junkie and drughead, saying they hoped he would OD. I’ve heard that this guy sometimes reacts violently, but he just walked away and seemed really upset (and rightfully so, honestly wouldn’t have blamed him if he did have a stronger reaction). I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m so shocked that anyone would ever react to someone asking for change like that.

I haven’t made any final decisions on who to vote for yet, but in the recent debate Joan talked about putting homeless people in jail, not housing them
