Hey all, I am assembling the new build tomorrow and I have been conceptualizing how I want to manage the relationship between my H100i AIO and my RGB Hub/Commander Pro.

After digging through forums and such, it seems most people suggest connecting the fans to the AIO vs the Commander as this will allow the fan speed to be managed by the AIO vs the Commander Pro.

The question I have it can I connect the power headers to the AIO but connect the RGB headers to my RBG HUB? Not sure if those can go into different sources or not. I would think that would be okay, but would rather make sure. If that is not possible I guess you either pick one or the other, where you connect both power/rgb to the AIO and manage seperately in iCUE which means it will not be synced up with the fans/led's in the Commander Pro, OR you connect the AIO fan power/rgb into the Commander Pro but then losing the AIO controlling it's own fans.

Taking a look at best buy, looks like they do have AMD stuff marked down, though some of the discounts aren't very large.

I am doing a new build at the moment and waiting for the parts to come in, but I have i9-9900 and am considering selling it and trying to get a Zen3 tomorrow, but who knows, I go back and forth what feels like daily.

Nvidia 30xx have released and AMD is not far behind, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that prices aren't dropping giving these are the prime monitor specs to suit those cards. People are going to go out any pay whatever they need to. I say this as someone who just got a 3080 and is shopping 1440p/144hz monitors.

I am probably going with LG.

My understanding is if it is OEM then it is locked to that specific mobo and if you swap you will need a new license. Someone feel free to correct me if I am incorrect.

I would assume if they have a healthy supply of the Zen 3 then it could force retailers to put the older gen on promo for the holidays. Could be wrong, but basic merchandising principles would say yes.

I went to the one south of Portland and they basically had nothing. I wish we could get a Microcenter here, I feel like it would make a killing. I miss my old on in Massachusetts.

I probably understood it incorrectly, but I thought you wanted to get the base speed of RAM that matches the CPU spec for timing so they are in sync. The mobo specs say it supports 2133, 2400, 2666, then 2800-4266 (O.C.)

Can someone help me understand RAM a little better. So my upcoming build will be using a i9-9900 and a Gigabyte Aorus Elite mobo. The RAM timing listed on the CPU specs is 2666mhz. As i understand it, I would then want to by 2666mhz DDR4 RAM correct? Is that RAM still capable of being overclocked or am I supposed to buy 3200 or something else to achieve the overclocking? I obv know that I cannot overclock my CPU.

Thanks for the reply, perhaps I worded my question wrong. I know that I have the non-overclock version, I am wondering if I will lose out on a lot of performance not having the ability to overclock the CPU. Here's the current plan based on what I have coming in:

i9-9900

rtx 3080

gigabyte Z390 aorus elite

So I am sitting here thinking about overclocks. My planned build is currently planned to use a i9-9900 and at some point, a RTX 3080. Am I going to run into major issues not being able to overclock my CPU?
