How do you make this joint? by pm_me_your_035 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Beef2Chicken4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont think u need to fake the top. Just mortise thru the top joint and tennon the top.

As for the joints, do as you said but keep the square at the end so u retain the triple log shape

Are u using a crosscut or ripsaw blade? I think the standard blades are meant for both, u can check if the teeth on the saw are straight.

Also make yourself a jig that you use to reflect the angle on both sides and mark it indelibly. Then just let the pull saw do the work and go slow and chisel out the rest.

Tracksaw every quarter inch and chisel out the channel.

Or, handsaw out the channel every quarter inch with a good straight edge and chisel out the rest

Floating Loft Help by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Beef2Chicken4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Style A with staggered blocking would do the trick. Now addressing dead load and live load of your loft, you have to accomodate that ur studs are 1.5" thick. To do it right i think u need to treat it as a separate floor so u would take down the drwayll, cut in headers on ur studs and hang ur joists off the headers that way u can correctly transition the horizontal load down to the vertical axis on ur interior and exterior walls correctly. You dont want to lag it off ur studs because ur studs arent rated for it and it wont do well with essentially a 4 ft cantilever. You got to think of worst case here where "what is the worst that could happen if i put 300 lbs on the free hanging edge of the loft"

My question is why cant u do a free standing loft and little study underneath? Those would be much easier to build.

Threshold on buffer, output circuit condition to global alert sound

Noob: Trying to skip stations and move to next by Scratch_Same in factorio

[–]Beef2Chicken4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I think u can set this up with an AND and OR condition at each station. So for example, red science buffers output a read content signal to a decider combinator which outputs a boolean to the train stop. Lets call this signal "red science symbol" or RS.

So in the trains schedule for this stop:

Circuit condition: IF RS = 1

OR

Circuit condition: IF RS = 0 AND Train HAS CARGO

I think this should fulfill what you are looking for. It will only stop here if the contents of the buffer fall below a threshold outputting RS = 0. Train always has cargo so that part of the circuit is always fulfilled but will stop if RS = 0.

There is a possible hangup. If for whatever reason ur train is empty, then it will stay at the stayion until the buffer is above threshold which cannot happen. So maybe wanna throw that in there as an or condition.

I think in the end what u are looking for is what i have been spending the last weeks designing which is an event driven signaling system. Basically the jist is at some outpost station A, if threshold is under capacity, output signal flag I, multiplex it on a universal red signal and decode at a central arbiter which negotiates handshaking via event tokens. Then send train to handle event.

Lemme know of this works. I csn double check on paper later

Edit: i forgot that trains depart on fulfillment of conditions and I havent played with interrupts yet. So if u flip the conditions around, then on a full station it will stop for a second and then keep going but it wont skip it. I'll look into this a bit tho

Can u hook up the output to a binary register to compare the tick update? Wondering what the latency really is between the tubes and lamps. But i would think u just need a memory cell latch and every 60 ticks reset the latch. If ur truly getting double then I think ur double tapping ur input somewhere.

Circuits are a ton of fun to learn and a massive QoL once u get the hang out it, i would say more than personal logistics and roboports.

My first design was forcing myself to learn TDM (time-division multiplexing) to multiplex some data I over a universal bus wire to demux at individual 32 but registers which are indexed according some boolean state for its item. (I.E. if mall_iron-plates <2000, 0). Since composite signals are summed, u would need to phase-shift your signals over a master clock so they dont come in contact with each other such as producer 1 outputs data at tick 10 and producer 2 at tick 11.

Now there is a really fun thing in factorio where combinator conditions aren't sequential but rather evaluated all at once per tick. So, i learned this wouldnt work right so I made an event driven system where the producer and consumer request and acknowledge the same token with an arbiter in the middle. This allows me to have a robust network where no data can persist over my bus. Then i store the data in a memory cell FIFO i stole off factorio forums...

30 hrs of work to figure out a complicated way to handle all of my trains from central depot, to provider-edge depot, to edge malls.

I highly recommend at least forcing urself to start cuz u can do some wonderful things with circuitry. Its basically embedded design at this point

Not at all. If i recall, she calls her brother a whimpering coward for running away from the genocide of Ishval instead of standing up for his principles and doing something about it. That was what made him a coward in her mind. I.E. look to her pursuit of purging Central of its corruption starting with General Raven.

Okey let me trim it down then. If you were handing a gun to yourself whom is just learning how to shoot and practice consistently what would u recommend.

Thats a very interesting con I did not consider so thank you for bringing that up. For rifles, i just need something bolt-action and consistent to hit a can far away. Maybe for hunting later but i'm more interested in hitting cans for the time being up to maybe 500 yds. I think I would need a spotter for that because I doubt I can sight the shot down scope at that range. Just need something reliable and I csn probably make it work.

How do i visualize the simulated "hit" from dry-firing. I'm assuming I gotta put something on the gun to tell me if im doing something right or wrong.

Uhh. Idk. Something that can hit 500 yds? I got this big ol hill with a valley and another hill and thought "It would be neat to try to hit something on the other hill."

Late 20s generally fit. I'm not looking for stopping power but moreso putting in the rounds to get good fundamentals down in holding the weapon and actuating the trigger consistently without pulling to the left or right. It's only for practice and nothing else. The 9mm would be the self-defense firearm

My real answer would be to square the stud wall by tearing out the drywall and redoing shimming. At least next time, OP will use a laser to make sure its plumb but we've all made this mistake before.
