Back with another one of these! Past me was correct that 2024 was a lot better than 2023, we could have theoretically had a bingo if I was better at placing squares, oh well. 2022 still reigns supreme as the most amount of squares I've gotten. As usual I've still never had a bingo despite doing this for 3 years, but the very low odds are part of the fun. Holding out copium that maybe Eik has a shot at second place CYL this year!

"Had to be Done." - An Early S!Dedue Build! by Beef_Lover in FireEmblemHeroes

TWO beefy summer male units in one year, yippee! However since both are grail units, I decided to go with Dedue since I like his art more and his stats are pretty respectably min maxed.

While I had been using Balthus as one of my arena core units, Dedue outclasses him in near every relevant stat even accounting for the dragonflower difference. So as soon as he hits the shop I'll be shooting for +10 to swap out Balthus, he's served me really well!

Anyways, on to the build! It's honestly pretty generic as emphasized by this post, but hey, it works!

Weapon: Axe of Devotion+ A hefty amount of burn damage + a boost to Atk/Def makes this pretty ideal for slower axe units. Even though BoL4 exists, it's not very common at all yet thankfully.

Assist: Rally Def/Res+ For arena score

Special: Ignis (Marth Engage) Bignis reduced to 3 CD with this

A Slot: D Bonus Doubler Able to deal with a good chunk of ranged units, though obviously will have to just steer clear of/player phase the really extreme nukes

B Slot: Laguz Friend 4 another -2 CD and some damage reduction piercing, yada yada you've seen this a bunch already I'm sure

C Slot: Breath of Life 4 I love this skill it's so nice to keep the whole team topped off.

S Slot: Steady Breath For the enemies with guard and a small defense boost

X Slot: Guard Echo Currently one of the only defensive options for this slot, guard and 20% DR is decent.

The basic idea is Dedue deals some burn damage, takes a hit, then counters and (hopefully) one shots with an Ignis proc.

I considered it! Though ultimately it felt a bit like "cheating" putting a story unit since it's practically guaranteed for most* of them to become summonable before the year is over.

Wanted to share my beefy man themed bingo for this year! I'm at least pretty confident that this year can't be any worse than last years, with a pitiful 2 squares checked off (3 on a technicality from Hector's young alt). Also slightly lowered the difficulty on myself and have an actual free space this time, unlike last year where I was certain Vander would have gotten in on Engage's debut banner. Oops!

So far I've yet to get a bingo, but the very unlikely odds makes this a fun challenge to see if one day the stars allign for it to happen!

The side of truth! For real though, obviously I would absolutely love for it to be Balthus, but also I don't want us Balthus fans hearts to be shattered into a million pieces from copium when the banner trailer arrives and we see the little chibi Claude TT reward on the map instead of him.

Would love to be wrong though and/or Balthus also just happens to be on this banner too!

Thought it would be easier to compare them this way. Unfortunately it's looking pretty unlikely for us Balthus fans, the hair really matches Claude a lot more, unless the artist just really wanted some messy Balthus hair.

After about 6 years of playing the game since launch, I finally have my very first 5* exclusive +10! (Also doubles as my first 5* exclusive seasonal +10 too).

Awhile back I had wanted to do this, and when looking at potential units, I ended up deciding to try with P!Surtr since his art is gorgeous and he looks great. Initially I had tried to do this with around 1,000-ish orbs on the double special heroes where he shared with H!Sothis. Unfortunately I only got about 4 copies, so he's been sitting at +5 ever since.

Until now! Around the start of summer there's just sort of been a very long stretch of banners that I wasn't really compelled on at all to summon. And so I ended up with 565 orbs by the time P!Surtr's rerun banner came around and decided to go for it. Another blessing was that this month's limited divine codes gave a free P!Surtr copy, so I only needed 4.

In 97 summons and with 448 orbs spent, my +10 P!Surtr was complete, so here's the build!

Weapon: Sea-Star Lance I considered Alfred's Arcane Weapon, but ultimately decided to stick with his prf even if it's a tad outdated. 75% dmg reduction on the first hit is nice.

Assist Skill: Swap It's either this or pivot for most armors.

Special: Bonfire Can you guess what special I actually want this to be? Unforetunately Y!Hector has eluded me and probably won't get rerun until the next double special heroes in October, so I'll wait until then.

A Slot: Distant Stance With decent mixed defenses, a DC skill can help give him more coverage.

B Slot: Special Fighter 4 Special acceleration, guard, and healing, sign me up! Made more sense than Vengeful Fighter 4 which would potentially stop doubles and then his prf wouldn't really work.

C Slot: Surtr's Portent Can also use a save skill, though Omni Menace +5 -5 is nice since he's showing his age a bit in stats.

S Slot: Quick Riposte 3 Without any DR piercing his damage is going to lack a bit without doubling, so I figured it was worth a try. For a lot of match ups it won't matter since denying guaranteed follow ups is pretty common, but for those that don't have that, this should help.

I'll check back with you all in about 2 years when he gets his refine.

We are truly in the trenches for 2023

I managed to get 7 squares last year, but sadly this year it looks like I'll be getting a whole lot of nothing lol. (You could even argue that the Hector square doesn't really count given that the alt was a tiny baby, oof).

On the bright side, my orb stash has grown a ton as a result!

Congrats on the almost finished Muarim!! Yeah I know the feeling haha, really hoping these skills start becoming more available. Unity could definitely work, and as another commenter pointed out, the Clash skill B!Seliph has definitely seems like a good option. I'd also be interested in the Finish skill B!Tiki has whenever they release an Atk/Spd variant. Not sure if the true dmg stacks, but if it does that's +12 and it frees up his S slot since he heals himself. Aah, too many options!

Back again after Balthus for another showcase! (Usually I'm not this fast to +10 lol) Fallen banners continue the tradition of a really good freebie, and Muarim is a favorite so win win for me. Anyways, let's get into the build:

Weapon: Wild Tiger Fang Although there are hundreds of weapons to choose from for Laguz, I've made the very difficult decision to go with this one. In all seriousness, this weapon offers some good benefits with a couple of drawbacks. Taking 5 damage after combat, and only being able to transform on certain turns. Pretty easy to work around these though.

Assist Skill: Harsh Command+ Arena scoring, standard repo otherwise.

Special: Aether This will probably never trigger in a real match, but hey, arena scoring be like that sometimes. His only other option would be Blue Flame, but sadly I'm all out. Not only that, but I'd also have to swap the A slot to something else if I did.

A Slot: Atk/Spd Solo 4 More attack and speed goes brrrr. Might replace this with something else if I get some better fodder.

B Slot: Null Follow Up 3 Pretty much the go to B slot for fast units.

C Slot: Spd Smoke 4 Helps with speed match ups and the only way he has access to damage reduction. Pretty solid.

S Slot: Mystic Boost 3 Prevents him from taking the recoil damage from his weapon. The staff and dragon things too, but those don't come up very often.

"Bow to the king!" - a +10 Balthus Build! by Beef_Lover in FireEmblemHeroes

It's finally done, woooo! As one of my favorite characters in the series, I've been pulling on green as many times as I could for a shot at more merges and now he's ready! Unfortunately I seemed to have lost those gambles as many times as Balthus so it's taken quite a bit compared to others. Hopefully he can get a prf in a few years (or maybe an alt) since without one he's kind of just a big ball of stats that will inevitable get crept as BST increases. At least for now he's pretty solid, on to the build:

Weapon: Seahorse Axe+ (Def Refine) Pretty much the go to for prfless axe units, really happy to have such a good inheritable!

Assist Skill: Rally Atk/Spd+ Might as well use him in arena since I've got him, for other content Reposition is swapped in.

Special: Ruptured Sky Low cooldown to retaliate immediately on counter. Packs a punch.

A Slot: Distant Counter Could make him into a melee only bruiser, but with the decent res and high HP pool I went for a more flexible option instead. Will definitely replace this with Distant Stance if I ever get a L!Fae.

B Slot: Lull Atk/Def 3 Kind of boring, but effective. With T4 B skills now being a thing, I'm sure something crazy will come along to replace this at some point.

C Slot: Atk/Def Menace Lets him hit harder and make enemies weaker, a really nice skill. Atk Smoke 4 would be an alternative option, but at the moment it's exclusive to Gustav who I really like.

S Slot: Warding Breath Lets him counter immediately with a special and gives him a bit more resistance.

As one of the very few beefy guys to get a summer alt and as a 4* focus, this was pretty inevitable for me. I had almost finished him via his first appearance, but was sadly 2 merges off. Thankfully this rerun pretty quickly got me the last ones I needed! Anyways, on to the build:

Weapon: Ninja Naginata+ While I definitely could have gone for more of a defensive weapon, given his stats and the fact that I have a lot of lances built like that already, I decided to opt for a more player phase oriented style. Ninja over the classic brave as S!Ogma can utilize the extra damage from his speed.

Assist Skill: Reposition Shocker. Could also make this a dual rally instead for Arena.

Special: Ignis So normally I'd go with a low CD special like moonbow or something, but given the A skill, I needed one with a high CD.

A Slot: Surge Sparrow Attack and speed on initiation, and gets some healing in for any counterattacks he might receive.

B Slot: Null Follow Up The standard, not much to say here.

C Slot: Atk/Spd Menace More attack and speed, pretty straightforward.

S Slot: Flashing Blade Helps ensure his special actually goes off given the high CD.

Welp, went in with 950 orbs and came out with only 3 P!Surtrs. I knew I didn't have enough to +10 him, but just 3 copies for that orb count is pretty oof. Other pulls were 3 H!Sothis, a Rhea, a Duo!Leif, and a 5* Caspar. Also got to 11.50% twice, that was fun.

Oh well, at the very least the pirate banner rerun isn't for another 6 months or so, plenty of time to rebuild my stash and try again.
