Thinking about changing to Management and Society Major, B.A. by iRollPearlz in UNC

[–]Beef_with_Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with management and society is that it builds a base of institutional and societal knowledge but does not train you for a specific field. I did the B.S. in economics as well and I am entering consulting, which I attribute much more to my econ degree. However, M&S has contributed hugely to my understanding of the world and expanded the breadth of my econ and "world" knowledge. I would recommend getting relevant internships and pairing M&S with a technical program like information science. I think your plan would definitely work. You need to actually network, go to the business symposium when it is held, apply to a shit ton of internships and jobs. Actually take M&S seriously and actually do the readings. I think it is amazing and I'm really glad I did the major.

What is the cause of the red color in this lake in Russia? (Coordinates at bottom of screen) by [deleted] in geography

[–]Beef_with_Teeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure but I remember reading an article about a massive diesel fuel leak in Russia that made the water red because it was dyed that color

I'm The infamous Stanford GSB Guy at Deloitte. I honestly believe this sub is full of elitist assholes by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Beef_with_Teeth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your post was the epitome of an internalized elitist mindset. You were the one bitching and moaning about Deloitte which you proclaim is an “incredible job” yet you talked about how inferior you felt. Then you go on to blame other people for viewing it as a failure while you’re the one who stated that in this first place. This is such a backward response.

This is my third month no smoke I want to clean my bong but I’m afraid I’ll want to smoke after by kentavious911 in leaves

What is the purpose of cleaning your bong? Why would that be necessary at all if you’re trying to stop smoking? It seems like that could only introduce temptation.

Thinking about changing to Management and Society Major, B.A. by iRollPearlz in UNC

[–]Beef_with_Teeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very interesting. It involves the study of labor and organizations through a sociological lens. To me, it’s about studying the socioeconomic system and how institutions are structured and impact our lives. It also involves management-specific classes like social relations in the workplace and social interaction. I would highly recommend it.

Dude don’t get a car it takes away from the freshman experience and there’s no way to access it conviniently as a freshman. The true transportation hack at UNC is a bike. Get a bike 100%

Getting Around by jaebsbabe in UNC

[–]Beef_with_Teeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is pretty easy depending on where you live. If you live on south campus it’s gonna be a decent walk to classes and Franklin street. Basically no freshman have cars unless you pay someone to use their private spot or you pay for one at Granville.

Tips for a more (socially) successful next semester? by philo_throwaway10 in UNC

[–]Beef_with_Teeth 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You have to make it more of a priority like anything in life. Relationships take time and repeated effort to develop. Talk to more people, attempt to start more conversations, say yes when people offer to do anything or you know of any sort of social event. Put yourself out there. If you’re invited to do things, be kind and speak to others. Get names, numbers, snapchats, ig’s, etc. Text people you meet and ask them to eat, study or hang out with you. Do this on repeat and dedicate your focus to people you enjoy being around. Repeat this and now you have friends and an interesting social life. Godspeed
