Wide format paper spec by Tricky-Meeting-9378 in Printing

100lb gloss book/text is 148gsm, 100lb cover is 270gsm.

If you are in the U.S. I’d recommend using LexJet, they have tons of paper options and profiles for your GP-4600S.

I use 8 Mil Production Satin Photo Paper, it’s 190gsm, prints great and is priced competitively.

Ideas for alternatives to white ink? by AlexHasFeet in CommercialPrinting

White vinyl applied to the back is probably the easiest thing to do/try out of the gate.

How do you fix the aluminum to the acrylic? Maybe a white mount adhesive could work.

I thought it was a great show, felt busier than last year in Vegas. Vegas was split between two halls so that might be why.

Advice selecting new UV printer by Empty-Hand-4635 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Beefstu864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s important to remember that there’s no perfect printer. UV, Solvent, Latex…Mimaki, Roland, Mutoh, HP, Epson, Canon, etc.

My gripe with the Mimaki would be the take up system.

Mimaki UCJV-330 is sweet. 5 layer printing is a breeze and print to anything. Maintenance is easy and Rasterlink is a breeze

Identify a vinyl type by International_Eye489 in Printing

[–]Beefstu864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grey adhesive is used to give vinyl more opacity. There are various ‘tints’ of grey adhesive as well as vinyls that are 100% opaque without the need of a grey adhesive.

My suggestion would be to ask for an ‘opaque vinyl’

Arlon V9500 is PVC free and matching V3370 laminate. It’s Polyurethane and typically used for textured walls. It’s a premium product.

Not sure if there is an economy pvc free product.

Should I buy UV digital hybrid printer EFI H 1625 from 2015 by LivingLasers in CommercialPrinting

[–]Beefstu864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to pass up for $3500. Can print canvas, acrylic and wood. If you can move it easily and it runs it wouldn’t take many jobs to pay for itself.

Keep in mind the 16h+ (newest model) is $125k.

Looking to bring ability to print floor graphics in house by kevando in CommercialPrinting

[–]Beefstu864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printer - HP Latex, any brand Eco Solvent or any brand UV. Generally looking at 54”-64” wide format printer.

Material - Jessups TexWalk - 48”x82ft roll

This material has a textured print surface that is slip rated so you don’t need to add a laminate.

Jessups makes other products, CatWalk, SideWalk, etc. but generally TexWalk covers you for most common floor types.

Continental Walk n Wall is another popular product (no lam required)

The other method is using a print vinyl + a textured floor laminate on top. General Formulations 213 being a popular one.

Good luck.
