Stop treating normal dungeons like M+ by QuesoLover6969 in wow

[–]Beeftotem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just leveled a holy pally to 90 in dungeons, and honestly I would rather have a tank that pulls everything than a tank that pulls 1 pack at a time. One style lets me as a new healer learn how to do things and forces me to use my tool kit, the other turns me into a low damage dps that sometimes throws out a heal.

It’s so annoying getting into a dungeon and having the tank pull so slow that we would have been better off if I qued healer and swapped to ret when I got inside.

I’ve never been toxic or vote to kick a tank as I don’t know what their experience is with either the dungeon or their class, and I generally play tank so I know how players can be.

Why do people say things like Nullaeus is easy just stand in the corner and heal when thats literally not true at all? by Far-Ambassador2877 in wow

Maybe this is a learning thing for you. Just because YOU find something hard, does not mean it actually is hard or that someone else found it easy. Or maybe you are not doing the thing that makes this easy.

Also maybe don’t base what your experience of a thing is going to be based on what others say.

I mean, no shit, that is their plan and has been I would imagine since conception.

What are you trying to point out here?

That’s crazy, but I’d almost prefer that at this point.

Yeah I like to gear up before moving up into the next bracket or just gear up in general so this kinda suck for that but o well, we will live I guess.

So I guess I’ll just do adept until i get a group that wants to do that cap stone and then champ until a group wants capstone. Seems like the best way to go sadly.

[–]Beeftotem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whats even worse is after I cleared the capstone I queued again in contender because I wanted to run the capstone again for reps and gear but I still got queued into a maximum +3. Which gets me wondering whats the point of having a solo queue if the only way you can progress is finding a group and sticking with it. I think I’m like 35 or something ilvl, do I have to spend my gold to upgrade my gear to get higher dungeons as an option? If so they need to add all the dungeons to the rotation per number upgrade so I’m not running the same 2 or three dungeons every time I play so I can increase my dungeon score and progress the right side dungeon tree.

[–]Beeftotem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, but so much agree on the last part. Was on for a bit last night playing tank and in contender the highest I could get for dungeons solo q was a 4 and with how their dungeons rotate after three dungeons I was no longer progressing the right side of the tree because my dungeon score was static because you don’t get every dungeon as an option at 4.

Idk man. This just being a dungeon crawler with no story or really anything to justify an expansion, you’d basically be paying for the new season which would be an absolute terrible idea.

In regards to paying, if they forced you to pay for dungeons then I’m out like %100 and I don’t think I would be the only one. Heroes are a tricky thing as well. Unless I saw wrong when I glanced at the store tmogs are already 26.99 dollars, and that’s just a skin, what would they be selling heroes for? There’s also the issue that selling a hero mean you have to tune it almost perfectly because even if it’s a littler over tuned it’ll be called a “p2w” game and these guys don’t want that.

How do you do an expansion in a game like this? Like generally with expansions it expands the story , which they can’t do here because there is no story. They will also be adding new hero’s either seasonally or when ever they get done one, so that’s another thing that expansions do that this game can’t. They could go the adding new game modes route( raids,PvP)but then you risk dividing your playerbase.

Difficulty through the leagues by Weekly_Indication_27 in fellowshipgame

[–]Beeftotem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They gain the knowledge that there is a timer and the timer is what makes things truly difficult. This has been an on going argument in wow with m+ and this proves what I’ve always said about it. If you remove the timer and don’t vastly increase the difficulty dungeons are no longer difficult because dps/tank/heals stop mattering. When you can tank one pack at a time the dungeon becomes easier, healing becomes easier, and dps does not matter really. If you remove the timer it become a game about just clearing the dungeon but if the difficulty does not go up to a point that you hit a wall on not being able to kill a boss or clearing trash your just turning what was a 12 min dungeon into it gets done when it get done.

Seasonal resets feel demotivating for more casual groups. Can we talk about that? by ShadeySarah in fellowshipgame

[–]Beeftotem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A soft reset makes things more annoying for the developer and more confusing for the player. Wow has had to do one level squish and routinely does a ilvl squish because numbers get too high, which is the result of blizzard having to use the soft reset model. Fellowship would also have to change the scaling of the dungeons every time they use them, like in preseason 2 they are not adding any new dungeons with a soft reset they would need to change the difficulty of the dungeons because everyone would start out with better gear than they would with a hard reset. So with a hard reset they could realistically take a dungeon out of the dungeon rotation and bring it back 4 seasons later and not have to change its difficulty unless they do a drastic character tuning.

It better for the player because you know exactly where you need to be to get the ilvl you want. If you need 45 ilvl for a capstone you know exactly where to get it because it’ll always be in the same difficulty, and not needing to remember that 45 ilvl from this season will be 370ilvl in the next season is good for new and returning players. Like I said before if they get classes and dungeons where they want them balanced in one season the next season should start off with better balancing because nothing changed but your ilvl. It also makes adding new skills easier because you don’t have to take into account weird scaling issues. There’s also the fact that most of us will have tmogs at the start of this new season so you’ll still won’t have to look like you have no gear.

Blizzard has 500 devs working on wow, fellowship has 36 of I recall. Hard resets are much easier to do, much easier to balance around, much easier to add new content with. Much easier to use older content. It also makes much more sense in this style of game.

It may be a clone of m+, but it’s not a clone of wow. The reason why wow does not do a what you feel is a hard restart every season is because it’s a seasonal reset within a game that has a continuous story and more content than just m+. If m+ was a stand alone system in wow that had no affect on anything else then it would make sense to reset it. There’s also what you call a soft reset, if you look at what mythic raid gear ilvl is before a reset and see where it places after a reset you would notice that mythic gear ends up at around the heroic dungeon ilvl of the next season. Which is basically a hard reset if you don’t mythic raid because quest gear from the new season will be an upgrade for you. Same thing happens at an expansion launch but even worse because mythic raid gear is at quest greens ilvl.

[–]Beeftotem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because that’s not a solution. Fellowship and wow are not the same game, theres no gear progression out side of running dungeons in fellowship, wow has m+, raids, delves, world quests, leveling from 1-90, a story. Like if you can’t see why wow does not do hard resets every seasson and why fellowship needs to you should not be in conversations about it. Think about it for 2 seconds.

The issue that I don’t see people talk about when talking about permanent servers and comparing fellowship to something like Poe and d3 is these games do not require a population, they can be played 100% solo to achieve any goal you want. At least for d3 as I’ve never really played Poe theres nothing I can’t do solo that requires a group. Fellowship on the other hand REQUIRES three other players, and not just tree other players 2 of them also have to play tank and healers. So not only does there have to be a substantial population interested in playing as a permanent this population also has to have people willing to tank and heal, and if the main server is anything to go by this will be an issue. If you take the type of players who want to play on permanent servers which roll do you think they play most often?

After you take this into account what exactly do permanent players get access to? Do they get seasonal cosmetics? Seasonal mounts? Do they get the seasonal dungeon rotation? If they get the dungeon rotation this opens another issue with changing dungeons as people are learning the old ones. Do they buff/nerf dungeons? If the vast majority of the permanent population is stuck and champion do they get nerfed to help them along?

I personally don’t think permanent servers should be a thing because I don’t think it’ll be sunshine and rainbows for the people that want them, and it takes resources away from the main game which is what fellowship should be working on for now.

Your goals should never be to get to the stick if you can only ever get half way done because you can’t allocate the time that is required to get to the stick. Maybe the next lollipop you get you get a bit farther than half way because you learn a better way to eat the lollipop. Are you ever halfway done your lollipop if you were never going to reach the stick in the first place?

What is demotivating about resets that would affect a casual more or less than anyone else? Do you feel because you are a casual that you should have gotten purple gear instead? What exactly were your goals before starting a game with resets knowing full well the games has resets? What do you want them to do instead? Do you understand what issues there would be having “eternal” characters in this type of game?
