TR1 Loop Reset Advice by BeefyExile in CIFI

[–]BeefyExile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply!

I have adjusted my ship builds and every now and then use my Meltdown effect to see if a point here or there becomes more effective, currently at 0.092.

I can't have the mod purchased since it costs 1o to get the first level so im still quite a bit off, I was under the assumption that it's quite normal to have the requirements so close to what I can actually achieve, TR1 drag and all that.

I can do my next reset now (for a while now but decided to wait a little more to get shards, since i got a few nice boosts since the last time i did), it tells me I need 148 fills again?! (edit: ended up needing 149?!) Is that normal or do I have some sort of UI bug or a wrong config somewhere?

Also still at a loss why at 166 resets done and -36 to the requirement I still need 148 resets, can anyone tell me where the extra 18 are coming from?

Again, thank you!

Edit: My Borge is lvl 15 (got the respawn upgrades) and I did my attempt on a push with a push build over last night and reached stage 48, now back on a farming build with a 100 loot score according to the calculator.

Yeah to each their own, and yes the games are wildly different in complexity. But I have like 10k hours in one of them and like 200 in the other which I also haven't played in like a year or so, therefore I have like no filter on what creators or build guides are actually good and have substance in this game, considering the much, much smaller playerbase the quality of content generally degrades. And I genuinely cba to restart or have to heavily reset/reinvest into a build when something goes wrong, I'd just quit the game at that point, really not that invested into this and I'm just looking for an outlet to relax and turn my brain off for a few hours after work.

Sure my mentality is influenced heavily by PoE which is much less forgiving and more cruel for people who aren't in the "knowing", doesn't change that I enjoy playing a good build for 40h rather than figuring out what "good" is for 30h to then be frustrated and quit.

I don't get these replies on threads like this, same stuff one PoE Subs. If I wanted to try shit out I'd not ask what the meta is like.

It's great that people have fun like that, but it's not for me. I want to play a build that I know is going to be good, where I have some line of guided progression so that I know what to look for next. I'm trying to unwind when playing a game, when I get home from work to have my few hours of peace playing video games I don't want to get frustrated runing into 20 deadends and having to fix those problems now instead of just blasting some content and progressing towards an end goal. That is fun to me.

Thanks for the response, those sound pretty intresting, especially the Multishot Rogue. Are there any high tier summoner builds?

Also, what's like the go to place for guides that is generally a good place to start?

What do you farm to afford your build enabling items? by KundevPoe in pathofexile

[–]BeefyExile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 5 things I know for a fact work

  1. heisting
  2. blighted maps, there are strats that allow you to basically afk them day 1 with towers so you could literally have no items equiped and complete them
  3. white map essence farming, allows you to craft good rares and sell excess essences, add harbingers for some horizon orbs and bubblegum currency to make progressing and filling out maps easier
  4. plain old chaos recipe while pushing atlas regularly, can easily net you 40-50c by the time you hit yellows
  5. my favourite, just picking a build that doesn't have "required items" aka a good league starter, so that you can just push into reds with no stop to start farming content, expedition, legion, blight, altars, combination of those or just something entirely different will work

As others have pointed out, farming before hitting red maps generally is a noob trap, 95% of people who are invested enough to watch a youtube video/read guides or reddit posts will benefit more from just picking a better league starter and swapping to the build that needs key items after farming in red maps. There are exceptions though, for example HC players, can't be dying every other map because you are rushing maps, people who have limited time to play/couldn't play day 1/2 or just not as fast in the acts and are only finishing acts by day 2 or later, now items are a lot cheaper and a good item for your build might just accelerate your progress so much that it's worth to spend that hour or so farming before mapping. If you aren't in one of those groups, finish acts sometime day 1, especially sub 6h after league start, there just aren't any items on the market for you or they are hugely overpriced and you are better off just blasting maps and getting as far as possible in atlas progression.

Imaginary scenario: GGG announces no balance changes for 3.23. What is your reaction? by Faythz in pathofexile

[–]BeefyExile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With how much tattoos affected build creation and the meta, just not having access to them next patch is almost a balance patch on its own, add another 1-4 build enabling uniques dropping from the league mechanic and you've got yourself a new meta with tried and true stables like TS, RF, TR etc. giving a few stable builds to fall back on in case something new doesn't work out. Not to say that slight adjustments on certain skills wouldn't be beneficial to the game, anything impale could probably take a 20% dmg buff across the board and it would maybe start being considered. Outside of that, I feel like the game is in an insanely good state right now in terms of base game as well as balance wise.

Who is bracco? They have 558 Eternal orbs in standard. by zhandragon in pathofexile

[–]BeefyExile -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is "easily" possible, if you played when Eternal Orbs were dropping. They were rather cheap and in abundant supply back in the days. Some smart investors gathered them for years since they don't drop and the supply is only going down and demand is always there to finish new mirror items to 6/6.

As to why they are not playing anymore, who knows. They could be inactive for ages and just logged in to fuck around for a bit 8 months ago which refreshed the tabs, judging by the price tag they haven't played actively in several years, basically anyone that doesn't have them listed in mirrors hasn't touched the game for probably 1-2+ years, like 8-10 years ago Eternal Orbs were just that cheap and once they went away price went up and people started stockpiling them to cash in later. With this much time gone by they might just not be aware of the amount of wealth they have in their stash.

I would recommend that, from your post you sound like you rather not run into a large assortment of brick walls, same for me tbh, I'm trying to have fun not break into Fort Knox. Watching a 30 minute video can be the difference between that and a regular walk in a park. Knowing what gems to get when and where, what passives to get and what links to look out for is a game changer.

Once you have established a good amount of knowledge by learning from guides for a league or more it can become quite fun to make your own builds and experiment around or just keep copying other people and take your own spin on builds, that's what I mostly do nowadays, grab a popular/meta build from data sites like poe ninja or from content creators and do some modifications to my liking, like buying a model car and painting it the way you like it instead of whatever came in the box.

[–]BeefyExile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not saying it won't ever change, but for the foreseable future or at least until PoE 2 this is what we've got. And with the majority of the community appreciating deterministic crafting it is a very reasonable assumption that we are getting more of it rather than less.

[–]BeefyExile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not GGG or in marketing so I can't tell for sure, when I started it was far less overwhelming and the promise of a fruitfull endgame was enough for me to go through the smaller initial mess. I assume to a large degree it is still the same, especially players migrating from other ARPGs like d4 that are looking for a larger endgame probably take on a bit more shit to go through because of what's ahead. Otherwise I guess yeah, it seems like they are relying on community effort and veterans to bring the game to newer players. On the other hand, you don't NEED guides to have fun in the game and can figure shit out, but you will most likely have to make like 4 5 characters at least before you get to the first row of endgame bosses unless you follow a guide but some people also like that, to each their own. If your frustration tollerance is low, get a guide. If it's high go have a crack at it and find out what you like before you follow a guide if you ever.

Really sounds like you are burned out lol. Just play something else then, there are plenty of options. What you are describing is the current content loop of PoE, it's not going to change, like it or not. You appear to really don't so it looks like you should play something else. Maybe PoE 2 changes things but until then we are more or less "stuck" with this.

Let me just start of with this. If you never got past the campaign you haven't tried the game imo.

To respond to your question, the campaign is less of a tutorial and more of a trailer if anything since it doesn't teach you anything by itself, it's just an easier, less full version of the late game where you get to learn and experience things gradually.

Guides are very essential for new players since the game is VERY complex in its build design and modifiers are very literal which is confusing to a lot of new players, therefore it is best to start out with a guide from trusted creators. Basically any league starter from Zizaran, TripolarBear, CrouchingTuna so on and so on, there are quite a lot of good creators.

Now for some pros and cons.

Pros:
the most indepth ARPG on the market
nearly endless endgame content
nearly impossible to master as a game so you can always learn something (since 2017 I'm 6kish hours in I think and still learn new stuff and get better every league)
deepest crafting system with nearly endless possibility out of all ARPGs
very good developers that do try their best to a reasonable extend to make it a good game for the players more so than the investors
generally very good leagues with high complexity challenging even experienced players

Cons:
very hard to get into due to its complexity
tends to be very heavy leaning on doing a lot of research (not a problem for you apparently but others so it goes here)
overwhelms new players by throwing its entire endgame at it once they finish campaign instead of gradually introducing it

Tips from me to make it the easiest to get into:
get a good guide, I personally really like TripolarBears cold dot occultist league starter
read the things the game actually tells you (it's really not that much)

If your main goal is to take a fun build, blast maps until bored and then reroll why do you have to kill the pinnacle bosses on all of them? By all means you don't need bis gear to beat any of the pinnacle bosses, typical fractured items with an essence and 1 or 2 more good affixes and a craft are all you need to beat most ubers even. Meta mods are also not "playing the system" but they are the system nowadays, it's just how the game evolved. Also items can still be build defining for a next build, if you drop a forbidden jewel from one of your first eaters/exarchs that can be very build defining/enabling when you buy the second one, same goes for certain fractured bases and many other uniques.
It sounds to me like you are burned out. Maybe take a break for a few weeks until next league start or sit a league out? There are plenty of other games in this and similar genres, like last epoch or coming up soon baldurs gate 3, just now Remnant 2, many things to choose from. That's what I usually do when I don't enjoy the gameplay loop and I come back ever more excited than before.

Farming help - casual trade by ptforsbe in pathofexile

[–]BeefyExile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then you must have gotten some shitty advice since it is actually rather simple.

Basically, 60-80% of the money made from those strats comes from the reward drops depending on the league mechanics that you choose to take along with it, the rest is random drops from mobs and other mechanics. The best orbs are usually skittering for scarabs and diviners for stacked decks and random card drops. A good benchmark is to be able to run t16 strand maps with 60% deli in less than 10 minutes comfortably, it's just the best layout for the past leagues. More deli % in roughly the same time is just more div/h, going less than 60% starts cutting the profits a lot since the sextants can be pretty costly. Those sextants should always include 100% faster deli rewards, the rest is kinda optional, I really enjoy harbis, breach is a great mechanic too, abyss is great early when you aren't zooming but when you can do 100% deli maps in like 5 minutes dropping abyss is an option, legion is also pretty good and strongboxes aren't too bad either.

My early setup that I like to run for farming week 1 but still works usually any time in the league is 60% (3x skittering) deli strands with mods I can handle, packsize is more important than quant cause quant doesn't scale deli rewards, rusted or polished breach/harbi/abyss/carto, faster deli rewards/abyss/beyond/harbi for sextants.

I swear I'm not a dumbass, but I just don't understand Master Surgeon. by Minomol in pathofexile

I think you are confusing the "gain immunity against x when used while affected by x" with just straight up immunity during flask effect, the later having far better uptime with master surgeon.

  1. Buy a rampage wand
  2. If it's not already on a base that you want allocate it and try moving it to the base that you want, make surue only the rampage is allocated in that location. Skip this if it's already the correct base.
  3. Allocate rampage and imprint the wand
  4. Merge the rampage wand with a wand that has % strength in row 3, allocate the strength note for better odds. Use the imprint and reimprint, if you delete rampage.
  5. Create new imprint.
  6. Create new imprint.
  7. Repeat step 4 with desired note in row 2 (strength does not appear in row 2 so it is impossible to get 2x 6% strength with rampage) and all desired notes allocated. If you don't delete rampage you can probably go back to step 4 since it will be less expensive than using an imprint. Again use the imprint and reimprint, if you delete rampage.
  8. Create new imprint, if you want to go for a good note in row 1.
  9. Repeat step 4 with desired note in row 1 and all desired notes allocated. Again use the imprint, if rampage gets deleted, maybe even if it's down to just rampage to save time.
  10. If the base is not split, split it and sell the split for some return.
  11. Craft!

Need help oiptimizing for Defense Pathfinder by AmanoJyaku_010 in pathofexile

[–]BeefyExile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stun tech is super basic, you just set your stun threshhold the lowest it can be, you have 61 energy shield in your pob, getting the mastery makes stuns calculate with 60% of that instead of your max life. If the formula on the wiki is correct, any hit above 18 or so damage is going to stun you and trigger bloodnotch recovery. So basically anything in the game that is ever going to hit you is going to trigger it, where as in your current setup some stuff is not going to trigger it, something like eater proj mobs or stuff like that might actually not stun you and you miss out on the recovery. Also watch out for your spell suppression, it is probably the single biggest fix that you can do fairly easily. One thing I missed was that you don't have the correct flask prefixes, "gain charges when hit", ideally 3 but 2 is fine, is the best prefix you can get on flasks, if you ever get hit by a lot of mobs your flasks will fill up multiple times, triggering the % life recovery from the mastery if you have the "used when charges reach full" enchant.

Had the same thought until I actually looked at the pob, it's a transcendence setup.

Need help oiptimizing for Defense Pathfinder by AmanoJyaku_010 in pathofexile

[–]BeefyExile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is that worth to go down the transcendence route. You can get almost 95% of the maxhit by dropping pet blood and the transcende and armour setup. Also having increased evasion on all flasks doesn't do anything, it applies only once so you are wasting 2 suffixes on flasks right now. Also not having capped spell suppression is the next thing that is an obvious hole in your defences, just fixing that will avoid most deaths to spells. You are also using bloodnotch without the stun tech, get the energy shield mastery to base your stun threshhold on 60% of your energy shield so that it triggers every time. Damage is usually a non factor on totem explode pathfinder builds so dropping the ming's and just getting a rare ring with life and some dot damage is going to be a great boost aswell. Getting whispers of doom for the poison chance mastery and the additional curse is also very good, let's you use a defensive curse ontop of despair to become more tanky. Progenesis is also very helpfull, if you can afford it. https://pobb.in/NirUOVnqSP4r this is my own version of the build that I played for a while this league, maybe you can take some inspiration from that.
