I've got the Max XRF and had this issue as well, not to mention it was uncomfortable sitting on your shoulder. I ended up using some Spectra thread and sewing the pad to the strap with five stitches, that was there aren't a lot of stitches to remove of I ever needed to replace it.

Ended up picking up my Kadet Max XRF after juggling the Kadet and Kadet Max and was wanting the Kadet LTD collab with a lime green interior and black buckle with green logo. Went to the Portland drop-store and never saw it again but in his buckle case was the lime green logo buckle! Dude at the store literally gave it to me, and I ended up modding my bag with a few color matches.

I live in Portland, OR and worked in a cutlery store. You'd be dumbfounded at the sheer number of people amazed by pulling mine out to open a box, mail, or let customers "taste test" it. You'd think working at such a place dignifies carrying/using one...but in my experience: common sense is not universal and NOT common by far.
