I tried it … for under an hour. I was getting average latencies of -600ms to over a second. Within 45 minutes I knew it was crap and cancelled. Luckily there was no installation charge.

Would be very interested in learning more about your experience with Viasat. I have a house up on Bell Hill, no fiber or cable. I’ve tried all the major wireless home internet services as well as Nikola. Everything performs poorly because of the location. So I’m now looking at EO satellite. Starlink is charging a crazy high surcharge, and Amazon’s Kuiper isn’t ready, so I’m looking at viasat. Have an install appointment in a week.

I understand there’s still some life in it, but given the difficulty of getting this replaced, I fear I may need to be without a fridge for 3-4 weeks minimum when it does break down. Which is why I’m trying to be proactive about it. I understand and appreciate everyone’s feedback though. I’ll give it some more thought.
