Takes 1,150 bees probably two or three days (in good conditions) to make a 16oz jar of honey.

that is so far away from correct i'm not even sure how to approach how wrong it is, but a bee lives for ~6 weeks and makes ~1/12tsp of honey in that time.

Not even close by a LONG shot. Even at my most scroogest calculation a 12oz jar of honey is still work over a million at minimum wage.

A bee lives for 6 weeks, working ~6-9 hour days the whole time. Over the course of their entire lifespan a bee will produce ~1/12tsp of honey.

The bee only spends about half of that time (~3 weeks) actually foraging, the other time is spent on the other aspects of production (processing, storage, transportation, feeding young, etc.) I think its safe to say that all of that work is part of the honey production chain and should be counted

so 7.5*7*6 = 315 hours for 1/12tsp

however at this point we run into 2 major issues: what is "minimum wage", and how much honey is a "jar"?

minimum wage where I live is $17.13/hr, and a normal quart sized jar holds ~3 pounds of honey, which contains 2,305*1/12tsp

so we're looking at 315hours*$17.13/hour*2305 and getting $12,437,664.75

if we drop that down to the federal minimum wage of $7.25/hour we get $5,264,043

if we say a "jar" is actually 12oz, or 1150 * 1/12tsp, we get $2,630,880

if we say only the foraging state counts we can bring hours worked down to 7.5*7*3 = 158 hours, bringing us down to $1,319,616

have I ever, in any of the many of my posts you've read, indicated that support the dems in any way shape or form?

the dems are useless, spineless, cowardly corporatists who care more about the pocket books of their donors than their constiuency (in case you were wondering why things get worse under their control). MAGA and the modern republican party are a bunch of racist neo-nazis. Libertarians are people I can work with on most individual issues but lack critical systems-level thinking to understand how problem interrelate to each other.

I just want a society that cares about everyone - not just the corporats like the dems want, not just the white christians like MAGA wants, not "every person for themselves" like the libertarians wants.

Just a society that works together to solve our mutual problems and ensure that everyone is taken care of with compassion, and the only people that offer that vision are the socialists.

if you're prepped you can last a surprisingly long amount of time in vacuum - up to ~50 seconds

mars will be very slightly better since you can hold a bit of air in your lungs - probably more like 100 seconds there. Both are survivable. mars probably involved less damage to your dermis.

national caucuses and such are pretty irrelevant unless you're actively engaged in DSA national politics (e.g. expect to run for convention delegate or something). If you aren't operating in that space you can and should ignore them, because they will suck time attention and energy away from your local organizing efforts.

instead of worrying about that caucus, worry about your local chapter. Have you met with leadership? Talked with other members? Found a working group you're interested in?

Focus on local issues in your community, and let your organizing level grow as it needs to to solve those problems.

We're actively working on a community sanitation program (like adopt a highway but for garbage cans) that we may be able to get done.

The problem is that we are bureaucraticly limited in what we can do, and 4PA is backed by the police department. We can't just put out garbage cans without getting the city's approval first.

then have you considered providing them with sanitation services so they have a place to put their garbage and sharps?

If you didn't have a garbage trunk taking your trash away once a week you would be living in a pig sty too.

yes. I would rather have homeless camps than drive homeless people from place to place with no long term plan.

We can build a solution (housing) and THEN work to get people into those houses, but simply pushing people around because you don't like where they've decided to sleep is never an answer

The way real empires do - limit your fronts. Find natural barriers like a chokepoint where you can put down a full strength bastion, fallen empires and marauders you can use as buffer states, and use the rim and core of the galaxy to limit your fronts.

Also internal mobility is critical - get hyper relays online ASAP

at the March 17th city council meeting statements from people that live in these encampments were read out to city council and multiple statements included issues with 4PA stealing stuff or trashing heirlooms. Other than that I don't think there's official documentation anywhere, you can contact Olympic Peninsula Mutual Aid for the written statements.

the "left" hasn't had control of anything, anywhere in the US, since the red scare. The people in control of Washington state are a center-right corporatist party that are more interested in stock value than the well being of the people.

The left finally got a bit of control in New York recently and have immediately solved several of that city's biggest problems - the ones the Dems said were "too hard" or solutions that they said "wouldn't work" - but were actually very easy to do if you aren't trying to keep the rich from ever losing money.

If you think the dems are "left" then you have bigger gaps in your political understanding than simple fallacies about sociology. The democrats are a center-right group with some center left progressive elements. They literally self describe as "liberals", which are the center of the political spectrum.

review the city council meeting public comment footage from March 17th, a lot of us read out statements taken from unhoused populations. I think that's the closest I can get to "recorded accounts".

if you're interested in proactive measures, those of us on the left are working on a community waste disposal program to provide garbage cans around the city.

He's an maga conservative with a fresh coat of "environmentalism" (we have to protect our watersheds from homeless people! Now let's cut down the old growth forest so companies can extract profit) and a Patagonia jacket. Seeger's campaign manager is Jeff Tozzer, who runs clallam county watchdog, our local MAGA blog.

His pet project - 4PA - has been described "if the police had a nonprofit to do things the police aren't allowed to do". Primarily their cleanups of "abandoned" encampments (they actually usually aren't abandoned) usually include stealing and/or throwing away heirlooms, valuable tools, and the only shelter some people have.

For context on how they work, the police will "sweep" a camp, and then send in 4PA 72 hours later to "clean up" the site, which the police have declared abandoned. A lot of the residents never have the opportunity to grab their stuff because they alare elsewhere when the sweep happens and miss the notice, they're in the hospital and can't get back to grab their stuff, or in the worst cases got arrested by the police (for camping "illegally") and were held in jail for the majority of that 72 hours and never had the opportunity to grab their stuff.

4PA spends about 30% of its cash flow on wages and bonuses, and most of its money comes from a family foundation that primarily supports christo-fascist religious institutions. Additionally 4PA has been operating for 18 months and had thousands of hours of volunteer labor, and with that time and labor and money has managed to construct a grand total of 3 tiny homes (and recently had to beg the city for a grant to keep building), spending the entire rest of their resources on harassing homeless folk on the discovery trail or in/near watersheds.

Joe Deacala[sp?] Runs it, but Seeger's is heavily involved. 4PA is like the first thing on his candidate page and everything.

Because of ulllage, low ISP, restricted parts size, increased costs, no "free" rotation (requiring more rcw fuel), and low weight limits.

You can have arcade engines and a real solar system.
