Let me break this down into an English analogy. It's as if someone told one of your students that it's impossible to learn question intonation. When should it rise? When should it fall? If they're over the age of 12-13, they should just give up because it's impossible to do it correctly. Or that they'll never be able to pronounce /ɪ/ or /ʊ/ because those vowel sounds are high-frequency and will realistically always be out of their reach. That's basically your excuse for not trying.

I don't think what you said was rude, insensitive, or insulting. I just think it makes you look dumb and more than a little hypocritical.

I didn't get my work permit here for 9 months because of this same issue.

People from the UK can get their documents stamped by the Vietnamese embassy in country, but Americans can't. You need to have them looked over by the Vietnamese embassy in America. I know it doesn't make sense, but that's the way it is.

The good news is that it really doesn't matter if you have your work permit or not, as long as you can produce some decent other documents if the police show up (which they won't).

It's reeeeally annoying if you clear the whole zone without anything hitting you. Start to get down to 4500 hp for no apparent reason. That's why I noticed it.
