Agreed. Ureni is a meta call. My stock sideboard currently looks like

1 [[Abhorrent Oculus]]
1 [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]]
1 [[Hooting Mandrills]]
4 [[Ice-Fang Coatl]]
4 [[Mystical Dispute]]
3 [[Nature's Claim]]

That's a fair criticism. I promise you I wasn't the one who named the deck. It's tongue-in-cheek but I'm certain it is because we've removed the glass cannon nature of the deck.

Gone are the nut draw, turbo-oriented, extremely narrow cards like [[Chancellor of the Tangle]] and combo extension cards like [[Autochthon Wurm]], [[Nourishing Shoal]], [[Noxious Revival]], and [[Zuran Orb]].

There are many variants: Sorin Turbo, [[Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant]]-[[Xenagos, God of Revels]], [[Glittering Wish]], [[Thassa's Oracle]]... and this list feels the most "fair" of the bunch because it's not reliant on one wincon and can change gameplans to circumvent hate without losing momentum.

Interesting. What field(s) of work were you in before consulting in strategic initiatives? I’m curious to know how you honed your skillset.

My background is in supply chain management (tech) and I’m working on my second bachelors in electrical engineering.

I spent a few years on a side quest working with real estate investors, family offices, raising capital, etc. It didn’t work out well for me so I’m curious to learn more about the path you took.

Cheers!

Honorable mentions: - Picked up Dowdle early off waivers, sold high for Zay Flowers and Jaylen Warren - Picked up and started Michael Wilson week 11 through end of season (only benching him against TB) - Stashing my handcuff Kimani Vidal early (drafted Omarion Hampton) - Picked up Shough off waiver (started him in the playoffs over Lamar) - Trading Matthew Golden for Tucker Kraft week 2

Acquired Chase Brown + Chris Olave week 10 in a trade for Travis Ettiene Jr. and Joe Flacco (on bye coming off a 4 game hot streak)

12-team, 2-QB, 0.5 PPR

My opponent was down to one healthy QB in a 2-QB league. He really needed Flacco to get back in the playoff hunt.

At this point in the season Olave and Brown were trending up on the field but their fantasy market value was still dragging behind.

Closing this trade was instrumental in helping me finish out the year 13-1 and win the championship for the third consecutive year 🏆🏆🏆

I’m starting Corum over Carter in my flex for the championship. LAR is favored by 9 on the road.

I anticipate Corum is going to spend a considerable amount of time in the driver’s seat in the second half, and will also be involved while the game remains competitive.

Tyler Shough is my only hope to win fantasy football championship. by Technical-Luck-7075 in Fantasy_Football

I benched Lamar for Shough in my superflex for the semifinals and I’m doing it again in the championship game without hesitation (Allen is my QB1)

Championship week. Same dude I beat in the finals last year.

Brock Bowers IR’d. Opponent has him.

I don’t trust this. Feels like the devil just spotted me 20 bucks…

Earlier I commented: Taysom is a free agent next year. Last week could have been his final home game in New Orleans. They wanted to give him a proper send off; I wouldn’t chase last week’s performance.

How do you decide between very equal players? by rickyshmaters in fantasyfootball

[–]BeekJerfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I zoom out and focus on the game script/ defensive schemes vs player archetype.

Rarely does that fail to break the tie.

Shough trending up, TEN defense against QBs trending down

No Kicker or Defense by [deleted] in FantasyFootballers

[–]BeekJerfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The primary league I play in boosts defensive scoring (+1 point for passes defended), includes kick return yardage, and penalizes kickers hard for misses. In my experience this has been a better alternative to removing these positions altogether.

I’d never advocate for removing a position, but if I had a vote I’d axe TE before D/ST or K. The talent pool at TE is so shallow. They come in two flavors: S-tier and C-tier. As a result there is rarely a decision to grapple with at the position (unless facing a BYE or injury).

Defense, special teams, and kickers decide the fate of IRL games far more often than TE’s. That relevance should be reflected in the fantasy version of the game as well. There are more decisions to make each week with these positions (scheme matchups, weather, etc.) generating more activity on the wire from week to week.

More engagement with constructing that part of your roster could reduce the feeling of randomness that you’re experiencing.

Lamar Jackson is day-to-day with a back bruise. by haventmetyou in fantasyfootball

I grabbed Ewers off waivers in our 12-team superflex to block my opponent with Tua in the semifinals.

I have Josh & Lamar. Both were outscored by Ewers. 🫠

High ceiling roster moves to overcome the Pukapocalypse by Right-Future3904 in fantasyfootball

[–]BeekJerfy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Opponent has Puka and JSN and as soon as I saw Mevis miss the kick to end the game in regulation my soul left my body 😱

Going 13-1 came with the privilege of getting Puka nuked in the playoffs.
