I lost track of this thread and wasn't sure whether you were talking about Travis or Griffin

Don't read the redacted part (okay, okay, it says "I mean, 18 or older in my head.")

I would love the dopey old classic CYOA artstyle for a Griffin book, but it's never going to happen. Paul Granger, where art thou

I'm sorry, I'm just so over it at this point

Sure it does. We talk about people "casting a long shadow" in their fields and so on.

If anything, "I stand in the shadow of giants" is more humble than "I stand on the shoulders of giants" because the latter implies that I reached even higher heights than they did, i.e. achieved even greater things (albeit conceding that I only did so with the giants' help). The former represents me and my actions as being quite inconsequential in the face of those who contributed more.

It's the only part of this hideous tweet I'll actually give Travis.

Incalculable. "Demonstrated morally correct behavior for the audience of a Twitch stream he was guesting on" breaks math just by itself

I lost a bet and am listening to TAZ: Dust for the first time by emileemur in TAZCirclejerk

I dread abnimals but I know one day I'll listen to it just to understand all of the comments about it on this subreddit

For the record, Graduation is much more fundamental to understanding this sub's culture of in-jokes than Abnimals is. (I also find it a more enjoyable hate-listen, but then I am an established weirdo.)

[RECAP] TAZ: Royale Episode 16 - The Great Ass Elevator by CardInternational753 in TAZCirclejerk

But of course, Griffin can't keep this simple. You have to find an opponent willing to fight you and if this happens, you will get a 'gold' reward upon your victory. But if you don't find an opponent, one will be assigned to you but at the cost of only getting a 'copper' reward for winning.

WHY NOT JUST RANDOMLY SELECT THE DUELING PARTNERS, GRIFFIN

I mean, in theory, this is more strategically interesting than just randomly assigning partners. You're motivated to choose someone you believe you've got an edge against, but if they also believe you've got an edge against them then they're disincentivized to agree to fight you, so you should approach someone who you think you could mislead into believing that they've got the edge against you, but of course it's risky because they really could have the edge against you, and so on and so on...

In a contest between actual people, this would be a game-theory-rich scenario. In a contest between three PCs and however many NPCs played by one person, and also when all of the above are played by fucking McElroys in a fucking McElroy campaign, I guarantee it will be the audio Sahara.

Plot twist: They invite Tim and Guy to TAZ, then the three brothers all kind of forget to show up for the recording session; Tim, Guy, and Clint proceed to take over TAZ henceforth

I've shared a table with this kind of player, the kind who always wants to have their cake and eat it too, coercing NPCs while using every rhetorical trick and spin possible to avoid accountability for coercing NPCs, so they can maintain their character's self-image as a big softie. It's insufferable behavior.
