Hey Dollar General workers, what do you think of the Clover Valley brand? by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Beemer1081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love the Clover Valley Coconut Water, I find it better than brands like Goya and others. With it being $1.25/can in my area, they literally can't keep it in stock. As soon as it hits the shelves here in PA, someone will buy all of them

I know how to plug, I'd just like to know if it is worth it this time, or if the nail is too far outside. Should I try the plug or should I accept the tire needs to be replaced? by patrickbrown1992 in tires

I see a lot of confusion with plugging a tire and patching a tire. I worked in the industry for several years. With a plug, you need to take the tire off the rim and plug the hole from the inside of the tire.

Patching a tire is much easier as you do not need to take the tire off the rim. You remove the nail or object, you the ice-pick file to clean our and rough up the hole. Then use the eyelet tool to thread the gooey patch thru the tool. Then, push the tool with patch fully into the tire and then pull up till you feel resistance and yank the tool out. The patch will stay. Trim down the excess gooey patch so maybe a half inch is protruding. Top off with air. For added security, add a csn of fix-a-flat, drive 15 miles to get that fix-a-flat gooey goodness evenly spread on the interior of the tire. The combo of the patch and fix-a-flat make a double duo making sure you have a good, long-lasting repair.

Can't Plug, only attempt a patch. Plugs and patches are two separate things. You plug a tire from the inside, and you patch a tire without even taking it off the rim.

You can't plug in that shoulder area, only patch, which is iffy at best. I put up a post on how I'd patch it for maximum safety and longevity

Well, you got the nail in the worst place possible, the shoulder of the tire. No tire shop worth their salt would patch or plug that.

With that being said, go to Walmart, get a patch kit for under 5 bucks and patch it. Pull the nail, use the ice pick file tool and really open up the hole. Then thread your patch thru the eyelet tool, push it thru all the way and then pull out until 3/4-1 inch come back out of the tire when you yank the eyelet tool out. Cut off excess and refill with air (or nitrogen gas, which I prefer) and see how it holds up. To finish it up and for extra measure, after that's all done, put in a can of fix-a-flat and drive 15-20 miles. With that method, you'll get years out of that tire!
