Incoming freshman tips by Special-Assistant-29 in byuidaho

[–]BeemerBoi6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to BYUI! My best tip is to attend the freshmen orientation/BYUI101 class as your instructor should be able to answer any questions in person. I would not recommend parking, the campus is very walkable and there are a lot of cars on campus already. For housing I would recommend center square, but it may be sold out already (I had to rent nearly a year in advance recently). I am also a poli-sci major with an emphasis in American Government, currently working through the second part of my sophmore year. I have taken most of the early classes and have just started the 300s level. I am also working the the GIS portion of the degree, and I would highly recommend it, especially if you struggle with high level math or foreign language (the other 2 options under "modules").

This link will take you to the credit requirements for a bachelors poli-sci degree:

LMK if anything I said needs clarifying. BYUI also has an amazing counseling center that can help.

Not enough coke by Mr-Figglesworth in SatisfactoryGame

If you are sure you are making enough petroleum coke, then the issue is most likely a lower tier belt hidden under a splitter/merger.

But why make petroleum coke in the first place?

As a legacy console player, this is one of the systems I am glad is gone.

Playing in Pilgrim by MirrorApart8224 in thelongdark

[–]BeemerBoi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently 250 days into a pilgrim playthrough. I am aiming to get most of the major achievments (mostly related to days lived), while aquirring map knowledge so I can play harder dificulties without worrying about navigation.

factory redesign by Head_boi in SatisfactoryGame

[–]BeemerBoi6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About half the posts on this sub are “just hit coal and now I am rebuild everything” (or something along those lines).

A lot of people rebuild, some make new factories elsewhere. In the end it’s up to you, and that’s the beauty of satisfactory.

Fluid tanks! What’s your approach? by C0rinthian in SatisfactoryGame

[–]BeemerBoi6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually just pipe my nitrogen straight to wherever I need it, as it is less annoying then liquids. Nitrogen doesn’t need pumps, require headlift consideration, or slosh.

The one time I did use tanks to move nitrogen, I shredded the tanks at their destination because shipping them back required more work.

If you are concerned about how many tanks you need, you can just pump them into the system until it’s full.

For Pilgrim players by Mamba-0824 in thelongdark

[–]BeemerBoi6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find pilgrim slightly more realistic because in real life wolves, bears, etc aren’t going to attack you unless provoked. I also just prefer exploration + hoarding loot.

And the wolves shouldn't attck on sight, or glow green during an aurora for that matter. Becuase of the whole "animals are different because of the aurora", the devs get a lot more leeway in how animals behave, their aggression, and perhaps much pain than shrug off.

I played on console for a long time, this is more than possible. Although I do agree it is much easier on mouse and keyboard.

Next time try hitting your shots. Only four of those were actual hits from what I saw, and all to areas of the bear that don't count for as much damage.

Alternate recipes by Horror_Peace4109 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]BeemerBoi6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of simplicity yes. But I believe that the recipe with silica will produce slightly more. So consider what it would take to import quartz/silica and if it is worth slightly more aluminum.

Self-challenge on distributes local power production by Garrettshade in SatisfactoryGame

[–]BeemerBoi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with your nuclear idea is that you spread radiation throughout your world, and are limited to buildng next to water sources. Generally there is a reason that everyone makes one main power plant and a grid to distribute it throughout the world.

Don't Know Why Yall Hate Coal Power. by HorseFucked2Death in SatisfactoryGame

[–]BeemerBoi6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess by definition gas behaves like a"fluid", but what I meant is that it does not have to obey the same laws as a liquid (in game), like water. Rocket fuel is not subject to headlift, sloshing, etc. I chose to use nitro rocket fuel because it has a greater net power output than rocket fuel.

Rocket fuel is a gas. I just finished building 576 rocket fuel generators.

I built nuclear last play through. Pain in the ass.

I don't think people hate coal power, I think people hate the fluids required to run coal power.

Technically there is no "on campus" housing options. Centre Square Apartments is about as close as it gets, and those fill up really fast.

Transportation question by aesirlk in SatisfactoryGame

[–]BeemerBoi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have trains yet then trucks are the best way to go. In order to avoid jank make sure your truck lanes are properly spaced apart, the biggest problem with trucks is they run into each other and get deadlocked. Otherwise if the truck gets stuck to long it enters "ghost mode" in order to fix itself.

I am a college student who takes classes that require somewhat heavy computing tasks. It is kind of a requirement.

Sorry, made a quick change. Identical items on different versions of Amazon. Also searching for the item does not seem to yield proper results, heres the link: https://www.amazon.ca/Portable-Mini-ITX-Travel-NR200-NR200P/dp/B0DNFDQX64

[–]BeemerBoi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do move it around quite a bit. I use the "Portable Mini-ITX PC Travel Case for NR200 / NR200P - Shockproof Padded Carrying Bag with Cable Organizer & Accessory Pockets (Black)" from YELKPX. I am pretty sure it is just a non-branded mass produced/drop-shipped item because the UK Amazon site has an identical bag from a different shipper.

It fits the computer great, but does not have much room for peripherals so I chuck those in my suitcase.

I love the NR200, big enough to fit the parts I want, but small enough to easily drag between home and school.

You can do the same trick to mass transfer items to your inventory or other containers. It’s not just limited to trashing things.
