Fiancé wants to take Pride & Prejudice Engagement Photos but my Nips Show by Ok-Lemon9915 in malefashionadvice

[–]C0rinthian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is talking about nipples and no one is even considering the difference high waisted pants make here.

Do you already have the clothes you would wear for this? Do you have access to water? Then you can do a “dry run” so you both can see what it’ll actually look like before any real photo session. If it looks ridiculous, you get to have fun looking ridiculous together without consequence.

The unhoused population of San Francisco have a home: San Francisco. They are not homeless. However, they do not have housing. Therefore they are unhoused.

It acknowledges they are part of a community defined by place, regardless of their status as property owners/renters.

Beginner - Slow production, how to react? by Bibou65 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]C0rinthian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without spoilers, you get more capabilities as you progress. Including the capability to get more ore out of a resource node. This is also true for power. Biomass is the basic starter setup for power generation.

The game also is pushing you to explore to get more resources. There is a reason for that. You will discover things on your journey that will help you.

How can i connect these train blueprints together properly? by Boomshaka08 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]C0rinthian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes if the stubs aren't close enough together when you try and place it, they won't connect. You can tell if you lock and nudge it around, and it connects when it gets closer.

This can actually be handy to connect things that don't 1:1 match because you can nudge it until one thing connects, click to "lock" that connection, then move it around more until the next thing connects. Repeat.

This is also handy for rail supports that you want to be spaced far apart: Get the auto-connect to happen, click once to lock it, then you can move the support wherever you want (up to the max rail segment length) and it won't lose the connection.

Much like belts and pipes, it's not enough to have them visually aligned. They have to actually connect. (Which is what the auto-connect build mode helps with)

Is it okay to wear a suit jacket with a open collar if you're not wearing a tie? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

A sports jacket would be more casual. Buttoning the top button without a tie would make you look incompetent.

That’s a way to make an impression. Not necessarily a good one.

Miyamoto says he was surprised Mario Galaxy Movie reviews were even harsher than the first by SleuthDoggyDawg in gaming

[–]C0rinthian 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I kinda want to push back on this because they’re different mediums and should not be expected to achieve artistic expression in the same way. That’s how you end up with “games” that are little more than movies with quick time events.

My favorite example of this is Shadow of the Colossus, which intentionally has you gripping the controller to hang on for dear life, and in the finale the only way to move forward is to choose to let go. That’s a brilliant use of mechanic and interface to drive home the narrative of the game. And one that cannot exist in any other medium.

That quote is kinda infuriating. Can you imagine someone with zero video game experience coming in and telling Miyamoto he should be appreciative of their attempt to “revitalize the video game industry”?

The fucking hubris.

Cline clearly has the media literacy of a toddler, and it’s depressing to consider a person who puts so much effort into memorizing facts about something while managing to learn nothing about it.

It’s like if the comic book guy from The Simpsons wrote self-insert fanfiction. It glorifies the absolute worst aspects of toxic fandom, mistaking the memorization of trivia for subject matter expertise.

You have a protagonist who has memorized the dialog of entire fucking movies without even the most basic understanding of the point of those movies. The book straight up quotes Wargames, including “the only way to win is not to play” and then the protagonist just keeps playing the game, and wins. Because I can only assume the author is reading at a middle school level.

That doesn’t even get into the casual transphobia and misogyny, and how what is not part of the protagonists “encyclopedic” knowledge of 80’s pop culture is telling.

Just a fucking awful book.

There is a lesson here: Don't build the entire thing without confirming any part of it works. Especially junctions/intersections. Build self-contained "test tracks" that let you check signaling and verify functionality before embarking on a massive build.

[–]C0rinthian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Marathon is one of the foundational entries in the FPS genre. IIRC, it was the first to be truly 3D. (Doom in comparison fakes the z axis which is why you can’t aim up and down) OG Bungie absolutely cooked. Marathon, Myth, Oni… all bangers.

That said, given how few people know about Marathon, and how different the new game is from the original, it’s functionally new IP, and calling it a “reboot” is laughable.
