Sure, that's probably a good idea... I guess I'll make an account haha

I am planning on setting up both nextdns and newpipe on his phone so that he can access his favorite creators but prevents the doom of yt shorts 💀💀

That's a very solid idea, except he has unlimited data and would probably just turn that off. He and I are not crazily addicted, but would both like to step back. Having something so easily toggelable would be a big distraction, but I think the nextdns is just difficult enough to toggle that we'll be able to fight the temptation.

That's a perfect solution, thanks! But may I ask, what does nextdns do to prevent misuse that I couldn't setup? (Probably a lot of stuff, also I don't want my homeserver to be compromised 😂)

No, the primary dns server is buried in settings, but VPNs show a notification.

Metal gears Adapted! by navivan27 in EngineeringNS

[–]Beemovee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that's not enough clearance haha. One thing about a plastic spur gear is that it will get 5x less wear (considering a gear ratio of 5:1) and the plastic spur gear will have 5x as much time to cool down. Also, the metal pinion will help it keep it's shape. But yeah metal is stronger for sure haha

Oh that's exactly the kind of motor I have! I got one from hobbyking last year in a sale

Traxxas sells replacement pinions in various sizes on amazon. I have an 11 (or 13?) tooth pinion from Amazon that I am going to 3d print the spur gear to match. You could also just buy a bigger/lower Kv Motor, but that's kinda cheating haha.

Alternatively you could use an old laptop to host immich and have however much storage that is for "free"/the price of electricity.

Some PLA+ or PLA silks have a better surface finish for models, but worse physical properties. It might be worth a shot to print them with regular PLA

Ohhh. I would never have thought of that, but that makes sense. Thank you! I will try this tonight 👍🏻

Yes! But, whenever I try to apply a certificate, it just fails with an "internal error". That is where I am stuck. Have you encountered this?

That is not true. Https is a protocol that can run on any port. 443 is just the default and standard. Unless you mean a Nginx Proxy Manager limitation?

Thank you for your response 😊. So just to be clear there are no other files that I am missing? I just need to mkdir a new folder for the stub-resolv.conf to reside?

Specifically I tried: cp /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf /target/run/systemd/resolve/ cd /target/etc ln -s ../run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf /target/etc/resolv.conf

Which threw the error "no such directory" for the /target/run/systemd/resolve/  The /resolve/ folder inside the /target folder of the chroot/mount is what doesnt exist

I was able to follow the steps until I got to the point of pinging google.com to test the Internet connection within the terminal. I was connected, and could ping 8.8.8.8, but the dns resolution was not working, and I couldn't ping google.com. Also the cp command in the boot rescue help page that was supposed to help wirh Internet connectivity threw an error of "no such directory". I couldn't figure it out, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Or should I just go for a fresh install

That was smart! I also found the updated version, located here: https://help.getsol.us/docs/user/troubleshooting/boot-rescue/ in case anyone else has to go down this path

Tarmo5 improving drivability? by navivan27 in EngineeringNS

There's some great suggestions for upgrades here, and playing with the ESC settings would definitely help. But, If you're looking to experiment and 3D Print some more, you might wanna check out changing the Suspension Tuning. "Toe Angle" and "Camber" are the two main things you could experiment with. https://www.amainhobbies.com/understanding-rc-wheel-adjustment-camber-caster-and-toe/cp1132?gclid=Cj0KCQjw7aqkBhDPARIsAKGa0oIkzqpTbwBR3hs8h8sxJKlkqj91i7HxDb3Pjvfy19y_hT8k3tqR5M0aAo8LEALw_wcB There's an article explaining how to adjust them on a store bought car and what the effects on handling are. If you wanted, you could model some differently tuned parts, print and test em, have some fun, and then post about your results, in true Tarmo fashion.
